Why does my iced tea look like chocolate milk after I cool it? Am I cooling it too soon and what is happening that makes it looks like chocoloate milk?

I use a coffee maker to brew my tea, a coffee maker that never brewed coffee, only tea. After it brews I pour it into a plastic pitcher, I then add ice, water and refridgerate. Only lately has it been getting cloudy and a milky color.
FYI: tea and chocolate milk are NOT the same color

To correctly make iced tea, you have to start with COLD water and let it heat as it starts to brew. Use a coffee filter with the tea bags if making tea in a coffee maker. Try using bottled or distilled water it may have something to do with your tap water. Let the brewed tea come to room temperature before adding ice and water to it, it may be because of the sudden shock of it going from hot to cold that it is affecting the color

Perhaps you should try cold infusing your iced tea. It makes the tea absolutely crystal clear. Here's the recipe we use:

I think this is the best way to make iced tea, bar none. And it doesn’t get any easier than this. Use any loose tea you like.

Perfect Iced Tea (Makes 4 glasses)

In a pitcher, put 8 teaspoons of loose leaf tea. Add 4 glasses of ice cold water. Put the pitcher in the refrigerator and leave for about 6 hours. I do this at night, so the leaves infuse while I’m sleeping. If you sleep more than 6 hours (what??), it really doesn’t matter if the tea is left in there a couple extra hours!

The next morning, strain the leaves, and serve over ice. You can sweeten with honey or sugar if you like. Voila!

If you want more tea, use the simple ratio of 2 teaspoons of tea per 6 ounce glass (yes, all you astute tea drinkers - that’s double the amount you would use if making hot tea). Although I strongly encourage you to experiment with different teas to find your own tea sweet-spot!

Are you heating it first? If so, maybe you are heating it too long, if that is the case it will be really, really STRONG.
Lipton makes an ice tea with bags, that you don't have to heat up.
Just place the bags in a pitcher of cold water and leave them the required time. Presto, iced tea that doesn't taste like instant.

You may have left the tea bag in too long.

Also, if you leave the bag in too long and add milk, it can look like chocolate milk.

I have never heard of this, are you adding something in it? Be sure to add sugar when the teas hot.
