Not eating meat doesn't affect how your body proccesses alcohol. It depends on what you call " a few drinks". If you don't drink much, then drink more than usual, your body will have less tolerance for it..And this is normal. Also, as a vegetarian, if you have also been limiting or have eliminated processed sugars--this is a good thing, shows you take care of your body- you may react more quickly to the drinks. Our bodies change alcoholic drinks into sugars. Alcoholic drinks are also high in empty calories and can cause weight gain. I would suggest limiting drinking to only an occassional one here or there.

there could be several reasons for this, depeding on your degree of being vegetarian...

it could be because of the fact that alcohol gets a VIP treatment on the process of metabolism, and carbs produced by vegetarian diet are sometimes insuficient to provide enough adenosine triphosphate. thats why you body may become weak too easily on the process of metabolizing ythe alcohol.

now when the body is on its weakest, opprtunistic pathogens can easily infect your body.

another one could be taht, alcohol affects every organ of the body, it’s most dramatic impact is upon the liver. The liver cells normally prefer fatty acids as fuel, and package excess fatty acids as triglycerides, which they then route to other tissues of the body. However, when alcohol is present, the liver cells are forced to first metabolize the alcohol... and due to lack of fatty acid due to your Diet... compensatory mechanism takes place, then you feel tired and sick!

if i were you... i will avoud alcohol and stick with a healthy lifestyle.
goodluck to you
