You are absolutly correct Lindsey.

All religion is man made it all makes the same claim that it comes from God. This claim is partially true but people can never stand to leave Gods word alone. This is because god’s word is consistent and does not mesh well with their personal preconceptions and bigoted ideas. So they make little changes here and there injecting their thoughts into the mix tainting the word with nonsense. For this reason you should not put much faith in these ideas about god that come from others. If God wants to tell you something He is perfectly capable of telling you directly.

Maybe you should stop reading what other people say about God and ask him to tell you what he wants you to do directly. Stop reading; clear you mind and listen. When you pray get you’re talking over as soon as possible and listen. He is trying to talk to you but your mind is full of nonsense from the bible and other sources. Don’t be surprised if what you hear does not sound much like what you have been told about God. You will be hearing Gods message minus the nonsense.

In your bible study have you ever heard of the small still voice? You can't hear it if your mind is otherwise occupied with other people’s silly ideas about God. Just try it you will be surprised

What does that have to do with stoners?
Just wondering.

Anyways, it's possible the Bible has been misinterpreted, but highly unlikely. Of all the translations, which is over 24,000, say virtually the same thing, then it makes sense that they are accurate copies of the original.

How do we know it's real?
We have to examine the scripture compared to historical and archaeological evidence. They are accurate. Of course 2000 years is a long time, but who (2,000 yrs. ago) would have made up stories such as Noah's ark or that Moses started to glow from spending so much time with God? These people had little knowledge and information like we do now. If they were geniuses of their time, why wouldn't they have made stories sound more feasible to us? They didn't make them sound feasible because they wrote what they knew was true and the best way they could describe events of their time. Otherwise, even those doing the translations of the Bible would've corrected contradictions. Contradictions still exist in the Bible pointing towards the fact that it has been translated correctly. Btw, the contradictions were put there by God to urge us to seek the deeper meaning of the text. Also as a test of faith. After all, that's what this is all about....faith.

The translators of the Bible believed in the word. Since they believed, they were serious about their work and in trying to translate perfectly.
I was just curious about the title. I guess your logic worked because it got me to click on it. LOl

of course it's possible. look... there were people out there who didn't even know the bible existed, how can they all be going to hell for that? does that make any sense to you? so many differnet people wrote the bible, so long ago, and christianity only follows SOME parts of it and not others, why is that? and it's been translated into so many languages, and misinterperted, and why were there miracles then and not now, and if god created man, then how come there was evolution, etc. etc.
look. i can't give you answers. i'm an atheist, and i don't believe in all that's written in the bible. the bible has some good stories, and some definite good advice (like not eating meat after 3 days, or not killing people, y'know), but i really do believe that, as long as you're a good person, it doesn't and shouldn't matter what you believe in.
i hope i helped.

First, there are no contradictions in the Bible, either historical, scientific, or internal. The greatest works of men have these problems. My favorite example is from Robinson Crusoe, where the hero takes off his clothes, swims out to the shipwreck, and then fills his pockets with biscuits.

Second, there are thousands upon thousands of manuscripts in existence. None have any significant differences (usually a matter of an accent mark, which wouldn't even change the pronunciation of a word; most of these differences are so minor that they can't even be translated into English).

Many people do misinterpret the Bible; that's why we can't listen to what people say, but we need to read it ourselves. Put aside the creeds and catechisms of men, and go back to the Bible alone. Check the link below for more information.

I have read several books on the topic, most say that the bible as we know it was put together about 400 years after Christ died, it is a collection of carefully selected scripts and texts form the time when Christ lived. Some believe it was put together in a way to bring people in from other religions, and make the Christian church stronger.

Religion is a very personal subject and there are a lot of people with very Strong opinions and they feel the need to be protective of their religious choice. Many times they are very offensive.

My suggestion to you is that if you find your self questioning your religious choice investigate others. Do a google search of What is my religion. It will guide you to website to take a religion test. This may help you with your confusion.

What ever you decide it is your choice and you should feel comfortable with your decision.

The short answer is, we don't. We don't know if any of those people or events actually happened, except for those we have independent confirmation of (like the existence of the Egyptian pharohs, Caesar, etc.)

We don't know if Jesus existed, and even if he did, we don't know if people like Paul, John, etc. accurately recorded his sayings or interpreted his wishes. (We don't even know if Paul, John, etc., existed.)

In fact, a former evangelical Christian scholar has written a book called "Misquoting Jesus" (never read it, not associated with it) in which he exposes the fact that no original text making up the Bible actually remains. All that are left are copies of copies, with all the mistakes and "improvements" one might expect in an age when copies were made one at a time by hand. -- http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060738170/sr=8-12/qid=1156000618/ref=sr_1_12/104-3446772-9917502?ie=UTF8

The good news is that even if the Bible wasn't written by who people believe, if it contains good things, those things are still good, regardless of who wrote them.

The bad news is that since Christianity is dependent on a story instead of a philosophy -- i.e. the story of the crucifixion -- then some doubt might be cast on that.

Many people have confessed Christ Jesus but do not actually know him. Jesus told Nicodemus that "You must be born again." Apparently you have not been born again. I am not judging but from your writing and questions, that is the case in question.

The Bible is real and is blasphemed when wrote with a small "b" as you have done. That shows there is a lack of biblical respect and knowledge of God's Book. Get to know God through His Word.

I know that the Bible is real because He gave prophets of old through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to write it.

Join a Bible-believing church that teaches and preaches the KJV, and not man-written bibles--notice the small "b"? That which is of God is capitalized! That is like other gods when trying to compare them to Him.

God's Word has been good from Genesis of the Old Testament, and is good through Revelation of the New Testament. God's Word has never failed and will never fail. Stop reading The Da Vinci Code, gnostic and agnostic books and read your Bible. Heresy is a terrible thing to a spiritual growing Christian.

If you will take time to know Him and divest yourself of worldliness, and seek those things above, He will become personal through the Holy Spirit and sup with you in your life. He will talk with you and will lead you in righteousness. Try Him and be real in Jesus' name.

The Bible is the best seller over the centuries, and one third of the worlds people are reading and seeking Jesus' teachings although he never wrote a word of the Bible. Should not that tell you something? That is why you should believe. "Before MyWord should fail, heaven and earth shall pass away."

I am being respectful and hope that I have answered your questions. If I have sounded harsh, forgive me. I only write to you in brotherly love for the gospel.

In Jesus's name I pray for your understanding.

Let me give you a true Christian Internet URL: http://www.gospelcom.net. This site has many free booklets to help you understand God and grow spiritually. In that way, when you are away from your computer in your personal life, you may want to commune and read your booklet for inspiration.

Not sure what you mean by "Stoners" but, we can trust the reliability of the Scriptures. The Old Testament was written by several authors, Moses, David, Solomon, the prophets, etc.. If you understand how articulate Jewish scribes were, to the point that if they made one error in transmission, they would scrap it and start over, you would know that the Old Testament in it's original Hebrew form was exact and accurate. The Septuagint was the Greek translation of the Old Testament and was the Scriptures used by Jesus and the apostles. The New Testament was written by eyewitnesses to the events or those who knew people who were eyewitnesses. There are currently over 26,000 complete or partial manuscripts copies of the New Testament, more than any other ancient literature. The historicity of the New Testament could have been easily refuted in the 1st century since many of those who were there at the time the events occurred were still alive when the gospels and letters were written, none did. Then you have fulfilled prophecy, not just a vague reference to some occurrence, but down to the letter fulfillment of ancient prophecy.
I add the following piece:

"At first blush, you would certainly EXPECT there to be mistakes--there certainly seems to be mistakes in all OTHER such literature. But, we have to keep coming back to the question of God--IF the God described in the Bible DOES exist, and IF He cares enough about us to get a message to us of His love and efforts for us in the person of Jesus Christ, THEN it is CERTAINLY POSSIBLE that He COULD produce such a book that WAS completely trustworthy. So, we are probably not entitled to ASSUME it is untrustworthy--we will have to TEST IT to see if it does measure up to a very high standard of reliability.

"We actually DO have indications that there is something 'supernatural' about this book--in the area of fulfilled predictions of the future. In that portion of the Bible written before the times of Jesus Christ--the Old Testament--there are numerous situations where men and women of God made detailed predictions about the future. To the best of our historical knowledge, ALL of these came true--a VERY 'odd' success rate for foretelling the future! These cases of accurate (and detailed) predictions of the future support the claim that a supernatural influence is involved in this Book.

"As far as modern historical methods, the curious thing about this book is that the farther away in history we get from the actual events it portrays, the higher our confidence grows that the record is correct! In other words, in generations past, scholars would have a list of passages in the Bible that they thought contained errors. But as time went by, and we learned more about ancient civilizations and cultures, and as we did more archaeological excavations, the more those passages were found to be true. For example, for the longest time we believed that camels were not domesticated in the times of Abraham. But in the early 20th century, we discovered archaeological remains that clearly demonstrated that the Bible record was historically accurate. So, as we learn more about history, the more our confidence in the historical accuracy of the Bible increases.

" Your question about the translations is a natural one, for if the bible we had today was a translation of a translation of a translation (and so on), we COULD have a problem. Fortunately for us, archeology works FOR us again. Each year we find more and more copies of the original manuscripts, from earlier and earlier dates. We even have manuscript fragments that date to the time of the apostles' deaths--LONG before we got into the 'translation business'! So each year provides us with better data about what the original authors wrote (and a way to check the modern translations for accuracy).

"And, even though this is going to sound strange, the very WEIRDNESS and DIFFICULTY of the Bible's content is a witness to the reliability and trustworthiness of the record. Let me explain. There are many passages in the Bible that are difficult to understand, easy to be offended at, or an embarrassment to the early church leaders. But these passages were NOT altered, omitted, or diluted! The emphasis on faithful recording and reporting was ETHICALLY HIGH, with the result that the Bible that we end up with is a trustworthy account.

"In fact, academic historians point out that, compared to the OTHER historical documents of the times, the Bible is incredibly more reliable, non-mythological, and historically testable.

So, by all the modern historical standards, we are justified in placing our confidence in the Bible. "

The fact that the places exist. I have visited them. I've been to the middle east four times now and visited many places in Bible history. Also, some of the things that the Bible says will happen HAS happened. If it was stoners I want whatever they're using.

The Bible Is A Book Of Corruption Like All Books And Through That Corruption The Spirit Reveals Truths

Gen 1:29
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which [is] upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which [is] the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
