Insanity can be very concealed by the person who is insane. They can come into the world and function like they are just the most normal person in the world, and fool everyone. They are people who perform dangerous acts and half the time do not know what they are doing ...they have no conscience and they used to be known as demon possessed in the Bibical days...Some people are really gone, their hygiene is terrible, their houses are messy,...and are obvious mental cases...but some, the psychopathic type, can blend in and literally get away with murder..because no one would ever suspect them...

It seems that this would depend on your definition of insane. Is having six cats insane? But what if you take great care of them? Why is having six cats considered insane, but six dogs is considered perfectly normal?

Here's a rule of thumb my uncle taught me, and through the years has proven true: People who claim to be crazy or don't mind you calling them crazy are usually the most normal people in the world, and have the greatest common sense and intellectual ability. People who get upset when you call them crazy are the ones you need to watch out for.

In the UK insanity is roughly analogous to illnesses categorised as Mental Disorders as defined by the 1983 Mental Health Act. It includes illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder etc. However, other categories such as Personality Disorder and Alcohol/ Drug problems are not considered as mental disorders. Consequently someone may indulge in very bizarre behaviour but technically may not have a mental disorder. This has all sorts of ramifications in particular with regard to culpability in offending behaviour.

If you were to hand out dollar bills on the corner, you might be termed as to be insane! That is just what our Congress does, for about $1 billion each year!

The Unibomber was 'insane' in medical terms, but, not in legal terms? Susan Smith is legally insane? Most yahooligans are jsut insane, and The Mad Furniture King has INSANE prices!

Hostility.
Bad manners.
Loud, aggressive.
Living in a world of your own; out of touch with reality.
NOT ACCEPTING THIS: Give me the grace to accept the things that cannot be changed, help me to change the things that can be changed.
Bad reaction to cultural shock: i.e different way of life, different look, cultural activities, etc.
Excessive vanity, in for a shock realising you are not number one on every-body's list.

Just because a person lives a life that's "out there" it does not mean they are insane...eccentric, but not insane.

Theoretically you are sectioned on the basis that you a re"a danger to yourself or others". In reality though I think that a lot of it is judged on how aware you are of your own insanity - you can't simply declare yourself mad on tehe above basis - I've tried!

Indeed what is it? I am beginning to think it doesn't exist. Society has judged the person unfit to be a member, so they must be all right.
