Popularity? I wonder. I have had two of them and it has taken me almost twenty years to talk about them.
As far as I am concerned, The Ineffable Light that I was in contact with, that danced within me as well, was pure love and acceptance. It was as though I was warm for the first time after living all my life in winter.
And to tell you the truth, the life I am back here living may be necessary and all but I long to be back with The Light. Every fibre of my being wishes to reunite with that Light.
You can put what labels you wish upon it: delusion, the last firing of a dying brain (although my first was in a flotation tank), Satan, or God. I really do not care. Those two experiences have changed my life, made it a little more bearable for this time.
Thanks for asking.

I have had one a couple of years ago. Most of all I saw light and the "tunnel" reminded very much of the tunnel vision you get when you are too drunk. Reading up on it I found that people from different cultures and religions experience the near death moments differently. While the western people often feel peace, calm and experience going towards something better people of other cultures can have quote different experiences, some even have nightmarish experiences. So culture and religion matters a lot when it comes to how you experience it. The experience it self is caused by lack of oxygen and the brain shutting the body down piece by piece, the non important parts at first such as legs and arms and at the end of the tunnel the brain it self shuts down.

This is interesting to me because my mom told me about having this experience when she was hit by a car as a small child in the 1920s. She told me this around 1951 and I completely forgot about it. 48 years later I read a book about these kinds of experiences and they described what my mom had told me perfectly. It took nearly a week for the memory to resurface. I was stunned when I realized that what my mom had said was the same thing that the books were talking about.
I think the answer to your question is based on your own personal belief system. The being is always the same, it just appears differently to people to be recognizable to their particular belief system. This seems may seem like subterfuge if you think that your God is the one true and only correct God.
If you realize that there is only one God who has as many names as there are cultures and languages, it is seem only as benevolence.

It's the brain shutting down.
There have been high g tests that show when the pilot begins to black out, they see the tunnel of light described in near-death experiences.
By belief is when you die, you are dead so live every single day you have!

The being of light is Satan. the reason that these experience are increasing is that Jesus is coming soon and people are being confronted with their sin nature. Anybody that moves into that light will be lost forever. Jesus loves you.

just remember that most of these people know they are about to "die" and be brought back to life. that could just as easily be explained as a dream. its not like it happens to everyone who is near death, typically it only happens to religious people, and a select few of them.

The only near death experience that was authentic was that of Paul, the Apostle, in The Holy Bible. All others are probabley Satanic or demonic to capture the soul/spirits of gullible peoople.
Jesus Christ Is the Only Way To Heaven!
In The Holy Bible, “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6. He meant “I am the only way to God the Father and to heaven”, “I am the only truth that you need to know.” and “I am the only spiritual life available to mankind.” In other words, “I am the only true and living God.”
All other so-called gods are false gods. They are not real. They do not exist. No other so-called god has the power to forgive, cleanse and remove all your sins from you to get you to heaven. They don't even claim to.
I pray you will believe this and accept the fact that you are a sinner needing to be saved from your sins (“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23, The Holy Bible.) and accept the fact that the blood Jesus Christ shed for you at Calvary is the only way you can have your sins forgiven, cleansed and removed and is the only way you can get to heaven. I pray you will acknowledge that you are a sinner and ask Jesus Christ to forgive, cleanse and remove all you sins and accept Him into your heart/life to live for Him the rest of your life. (“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” John 1:12, in the Holy Bible.) That is what it means to be born again. (“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3 in The Holy Bible.)
God loves you and it is not His will that you perish in hell.
(“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” II Peter 3:9 in The Holy bible.)
This is my prayer for you
