The BARF diet is a raw food diet designed for domesticated dogs. The benefits of such a diet are many: the dog gets all of the nurtients from the food because it hasn't been cooked or processed away; the dog can get more nutrition out of less food; the dog produces less waste and the waste it does produce biodegrades more readily than stools comprised of overly processed commercial dog food.

it stands for bones and raw food. Some of the pet nutritionists recommend this. If you are considering starting your dog on that, talk to your vet or a licensed/certified pet nutritionist first. Not all dogs are suited for this kind of diet. I wouldn't recommend it for dogs that are sick or live outside though.
