The Old Testament prohibitions against homosexuality in the Books of Leviticus (chapter 18, v.22; chapter 20 v.13) and Deuteronomy are essentially provisions of the Jewish Law. Those who base their disapproval of homosexuality on them must be prepared to state whether or not they are prepared to keep all the other provisions of jewish Law themselves don't you think.

Reply to believer_in_...:
But my question here is explicitly concerned with Old Testament provisions of Jewish Law...your point is?

Reply to DougLawrence:
uniformed nonsense isn't it, same old nonsens they use to hinder distribution of condoms to stop Aids in africa, they are more concerned with protecting the influence of the church than protecting people or standing up for individuals or minorities, only what you might expect of careerist self-styled middlemen acting as agents for God.

There are New Testament teachings that state that God forbids homosexuality. Romans 1:18-32 and 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 are two of them.

The old law only set a precedent. It no longer applies.

The church has the authority to deal with issues of that type, now. Here's what it says about homosexuality in the Catholic Catechism:

Chastity and homosexuality

2357
Homosexuality refers to relations between men or between women who experience an exclusive or predominant sexual attraction toward persons of the same sex. It has taken a great variety of forms through the centuries and in different cultures. Its psychological genesis remains largely unexplained. Basing itself on Sacred Scripture, which presents homosexual acts as acts of grave depravity,141 tradition has always declared that "homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered."142 They are contrary to the natural law. They close the sexual act to the gift of life. They do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity. Under no circumstances can they be approved.

2358
The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

2359
Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.

Romans 1:24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

The New Testament condemns it, also.

Christian here: I think that verse is something like: See that you don't lie with a man like with a woman...or something close. I think you should offer grace but not acceptance
