I just recieved my US employment authorization card, can I go ahead and start working /job seeking or do I need to wait until I have a social security number? I am just waiting for an FBI check so they will issue my Green Card which they say could take 6 months to 3 years. Can I get a Driving Licence with the Employment Authorization?

To be able to work in the US you need to get a Social Security Number(SSN), it usually takes 2-3 weeks. You can start looking for jobs as soon as you get your green card, you'll just have to start working once you get your SSN. Also, you need your SSN to get a Driver's License.

yes you can get a driver's license and a ss card. with the backlog right now 6 mo. wait is a realistic time frame. however due to the efforts of ins they are trying to speed up the process. some applicants have been very lucky and their application for permanent resident card gets processed sooner.
either ways, you have an employment authorization...that means you are legally in the US unless they revoke it due to criminal record.

Sorry! But America's unemployment rate is lower now that even under Clinton! Your best bet is to go back to the country of your birth and get a job.
