Religious liberty is detrimental to national growth.?

Religious liberty can only be detrimental to national growth if the exercise of religious liberty of one religion is sanctioned over that of another. The hegemony of one religion in the popular consciousness will invariably result in censorship of differing beliefs, whether they are different religions or secular ideas. The suppression of competing views would result in curtailing the progress of a nation because it is the free exchange of ideas that lays fertile ground for change.

It is a mistaken notion that in theocratic nations, the cause for their backwardness is the direct result of the prohibition of religious expression. If anything this assertion is incomplete. In fact what causes such nations to be primitive isn’t censorship of all religions per se, because indeed one religion is allowed to be practiced freely. Otherwise that nation could not be considered a theocracy. What makes theocratic nations oppressive is that one religion is freely exercised at the expense of other faiths and beliefs. This is what makes those nations repressive and stagnant.

Freedom of religion is not exactually detrimental to national growth.
But religion in goverment has always proven to be detrimintal to freedom. Regardless of which religion it is there are religious fanatics like jerry falwel, or bin laden who would see the entire world one huge church with his own concept of god and religion the law of the land.
Even though I am an atheist religion does provide an important
part of most peoples lives and at least in christianity maintain some degree of sanity in an insane world.\
National growth in america is not determined by religion but religious issues in other countries which disrupt supple and demand does.
In islamic countries religion dorminates their entire lives and have always left them in shambles. Even in Saudia Araba with out the support form this country the kindom would fall on it;s royal butt and kaos would rein there as well. It's not the religion it is the few who would use their religion as a tool against the people and the world for person power, glory , and wealth. Women place a very important part in religions goals as anyone can see that women are the under dog in every major religion and religion to me has always been to undermine equality in women.

The usa supreme court isnt an example of liberty its an example of paralysis. You can have an abortion without your parents knowing but dont try praying in a public school!
