Dude, a pescetarian isn't a vegetarian. A pescetarian is someone who doesn't devour land animals. The weightloss plan that you're describing (someone who frequently follows a vegetarian weightloss plan, yet makes social exceptions) is a flexitarian. besides, to respond to your question, the better up on the food chain, the more effective in all probability a fish is extreme in mercury. yet once you're worried about awkwardness in social circumstances, i imagine more effective human beings might want to discover it weird and wonderful to take heed to "Oh, i do not devour that type of fish, it is too extreme in mercury" than might want to "No thanks, i'm a vegetarian."

According to my research at www.Sustainlane.com, the safest thing to do is to check with your local wildlife and fisheries department if possible. This site recommends shrimp, salmon, Pollock (imitation crabmeat is usually made from Pollock),catfish(probably the farmed kind) and canned light tuna- not Albacore they say. Hope this helps.
