I think it all begins with us. We need to carry love in our hearts and share it with everyone we encounter- even the ones that get on our nerves.

Then we can join with others to help spread it further- peace groups, intention groups, prayer groups. Use whatever talents we may have to share with as many as we can. Write about peace, create art, volunteer, give of ourselves to others.

We may not realize our own potential to make a difference but it's there. Its like the ripples on a pond when you toss in a pebble. Try it!

Nothing can be done; it's the way of humans to fight. If not about this, then about that. And if not about that, then about something else. Humans don't cope too well with peace for any length of time.

We should make war more brutal, horrific and violent, though. Do away with the bombs and bullets that make killing so easy, efficient and impersonal and do it the good old fashioned, up close and personal way. Death is not a deterrent for most people heated by some cause or another, especially if they have never actually been involved in it. But the promise of carnage and mutilation, and terrible savagery will often make them stop and think twice about going for it.

People think they are brave when they say they would be prepared to die fighting for their cause. But they're not. Bravery is when you're willing to fight for your cause knowing that there may not be the swift mercy of death, and all that awaits the tough guys is a life of blindness or other sensory damage, disfigurement, dismemberment and relying on their loved ones to wipe their arses and feed them when they return to their homes broken and ruined, and fit for nothing more than dribbling down their shirt fronts.

It is no coincidence that people are more inclined to do war if war means pressing a button on one continent and vapourising thousands on another just minutes later, comfortably out of sight and out of mind. It leads to a very dangerous "video game" attitude toward killing.

Now, pass the blunt axe would you, the neighbours are playing up...

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was ratified by the United Nations in 1948, after the devastation of the last World War. Eleanor Roosevelt was actually the principle architect of this Declaration. It forms the foundation of everyone's most basic human rights. It transcends all borders.

Yet surveys show the vast majority of citizens have never heard of it.

These rights are your rights and everyone's rights.
Use them. Insist on them.
Make universal human rights a fact ... in worlds both small and large.

Dissolve all international borders and merge all countries into one, make each former country into a state, and run it like we do in america where each state would send delegates to the world govenment and everybody would get a say based on their population.

But, something to think about, if everyone was at peace and we had no weapons, how would we defend ourselves against an alien invasion?

It is sad, but we do have a moral obligation to help those who are oppressed, but we may need to look within our own borders to solve some issues first. I just wish we spent as much on education in this country as we do on wars.

to answer your question, we may need to back out of this current region and let what happens happen. This war has been going on since the days of the women at the well!!

Unfortunately, there is probably little any of us can really do. I'm kind of thinking that the whole Biblical end times scenario is more or less destined to happen. The best we can do is to follow Jesus example of practicing non-violence in every situation, at all cost, up to and including our own life.
