bartending school seems like such a rip off. Is there a cheaper alternative?

You can try working as an non-experienced bartender........ but it will be hard to find someone to hire you, and if you find a job, you will have to work a lot for small salary......your choice.

You can take it as a learning period.....that you also get paid a little for......later, you will be able to write on your resume.....experienced bartender.

PS.....I've heard , for example , that Pizza Hut are hiring bartenders and do not ask for experience or any kind of certificate......but I don't know if it's the kind of bar tending that you are interested in.

Good luck!

Bartending school is a rip off. Find a place that is willing to teach you as you work. Hands on is the best teacher in that trade. I was lucky. At 21 I went to work for a restaurant with a service bar, and the head bartender worked with me. After that I worked all over. Even had my own bar at one time. Great Job if you don't mind listening to someone else's problems all night. Good money too!

Do what Homer Simpson did and open a bar in your garage.
