People who threaten hell have decided they are the judge of others. Jesus will be the judge when the time comes. People who believe in hell and share the Word of the Lord with others (including the information on hell) are trying to help others have eternal life. In John 7:24, Jesus said, "Stop judging by the way things look, but judge by what is really right."

If you knew that the yard down the street had a dog that ran out and bit people who walked by, would you warn people or let them get bit? If you tell them, are you threatening them with a dog bite for walking down that street or are you warning them so they can avoid the pain and torment? It is all in how you look at the situation. You think we are threatening you with hell, and we think we are warning you of a danger. One idea is based on hate, the other on love. See which is controlling your thinking.

Yes and no.
Yes. If they know nothing about hell and they tell lie about it, they are themselves in the hellish darkness of their schemes.
No. They may know the true loss because of separation from God, they are repenting and trying to remind other people about this serious matter, they are really benevolent, and God may accept their services.
Hell is not a location in the the universe; it is the condition of the soul in lack of divine love and light.

Hell ain't so bad. Remember, Satan was the guy that helped Adam and Eve gain knowledge in the Garden of Eden. Here in the States, we call those kind of people "teachers". A highly respected occupation. Any place run by a teacher cant be that bad. Unless that teacher says that you are his sheep. Here in the states, we use sheep for meat and clothes... Do you want to go to heaven and be a sheep, or go to hell and be taught by a real teacher?

Yes. Christianity, and other religions, love to portray man as inherently bad and the world as falling apart. Neither is true. Man is generally good, with a few notable exceptions. And the world is doing fine, also with notable exceptions (many of which are caused by religion). But making people unhappy about their current situation is a great tactic for making your own "solution" more attractive.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Step right up folks! You know you have pains, you know the world is against you, right?! Weeelllll, do I have a solution for you! Please, just accept this FREE GIFT (1) and get riches beyond your wildest dreams and peace for ever!!! (2)
(1) Note, acceptance of this gift means you will give money each week to the church and support us in our political goals. We may also require that you pester your friends, too.
(2) Note, reward not redeemable until after you die... (just trust us, ok?)"

As a Christian I do agree with you that I do not feel the gospel should be presented as "burn or turn". I think they are just desperate to present the gospel to you so that you can go to heaven. Jesus preached a grace message. He is so full of love for you that He went to the cross, took on your sins and died so that you could make it to heaven. He said to the thief on the cross who recognized Him as being innocent, "this day you and I shall be in paradise." All it takes is for you to accept Him, His love and the FREE gift He offered you. Peace to you....

Parents who threaten their kids [to go to their room without dinner] in an attempt to make them behave are already [in a room without dinner] aren't they?
See, your logic is faulty...restate your question more clearly.

"hell" is a term used to lightly and vaguely. Do some research in th ebible and you find that our vision of hell, and the whole "fire and brimstone" are 2 diffrent places.
I think people who scare you into heaven, are doing more harm to a person's faith.
