A trip got canceled on me, now I have a week to do something.....
but what? Travelling alone, so basic touristing isn't all that appealing, and its hard to find a group trip thats the right week (now) and has space.

I've got all sorts of interests, so I'm open to all sorts of suggestions...

The budget is not wide open but lets say up to $2000 for the week.

I have a passport, and I live in the northeast of the US, near a major airport.

I have no physical limitations.

Fly to Salt Lake City. See the tabernacle and rent a car and visit the National Parks of the west. Drive up through Jackson, Wy through Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and around through Glacier NP. Don't miss the Going to the Sun Highway at the east entrance to Glacier. Get over the idea that you need to travel with somebody. That is all in your head. You will find people to talk to as you travel. They are very friendly out west.

If you want more adventure, fly to Anchorage and then take the Alaska RR to Fairbanks through Denali. Then get a tour to Barrow and visit the northernmost point in the US. Take the flight back to Anchorage. I did this trip in early April a few years ago.

When you get done seeing our beautiful country, then worry about seeing the rest of the world. So much to see and so little time!

Get with a travel agent that specializes in 'last minute' reservations. They will have access to all of the great last minute deals available in your market. You can get some fabulous trips at low prices as long as you are very flexible in your travel arrangements.

Airlines and cruiselines, etc, know that once the plane or ship leaves, any unsold seat or cabin is lost revenue and they will go the extra mile to put someone in it.

Niagara Fall Canada. It's beautiful there and there are so many things to do there. See the falls, ride the Miss Buffalo under the Falls, go to wax museum, see the botanical gardens, shop at the Eaton's Center, there's a lot you can do in Niagara Fall.

Why not fly to London, then catch the train to Scotland or a flight to Ireland. Drink plenty of Irish Whiskey and Guiness and some nasty Carlsburg in London.
