I feel the question should be was big brother being responsible allowing Pete to go into big brother in the first place. What about Shabaz who ended up on suicide watch.
Long gone are the days that people are uncomfortable around are locked up.
I don't think Pete needs to be in hospital he has tourettes he is not a risk to anyone. He has a problem and he deals with it.
Long gone are the days where people who others find hard to understand are locked up. Unless Pete is a threat to others or himself there is no good reason for him not to lead as normal life as possible.
This bloke deserves locking up he attacked people in the 90's and is now allowed out shopping on his own, worry about him. I have put a link below for the bloke I am talking about.
Just thought you might like to know most big mental hospital's have been shut down. The government want care in the community. Where I live there are 24 beds at the hospital on the acute ward, there used to be 60.
We don't have padded cells in the UK either from what I understand. They have a room which has no furniture in and a mattress on the floor. This is for patients who kick off and need to be placed someone for there own safety and the other patients safety. They are only in there for a short period of time,
If you notice it is going the same way with medical problems as well. 6 hours after having a baby mothers go home. When I was having my children the norm was for new mums to be in 5-7 days.
They are having nurses to go out and see people with heart problems and diabetes to keep patients out of the hospital.
It seems to be the big answer and save money policy at the moment. Watch the news and see how many wards are closing in all areas of health.
Sorry for the rant but it is something that really winds me up. Everyone is more interested in a high turnaround as it improves the stars they get for the hospitals each year and that has an effect on funding they receive.
Read the link below and tell me honestly if Pete worries you more than that bloke.
Poggle gets off her soap box.

Although some of pete's behaviour (ie falling down the stairs, jim carrey mannerisms) is partly put on for show, he has not been sectioned under the mental health act as he is not a danger to himself or others. These are the sole two reasons why patients are sectioned. Pete's sound as a pound, even if his exit from the house was a bit embarrasing to watch.......

why should he he suffers from Tourette Syndrome The symptoms of TS are tics, repeated movements and sounds. It is important to understand that these are chronic and involuntary. Someone with TS may be able to suppress them for a period but eventually they have to let the tics out.
Tics usually start in childhood around the age of 7 and are likely to persist throughout life, though the symptoms often decrease towards the end of adolescence. The first symptoms are usually facial tics such as rapid blinking or twitches of the mouth, but TS may start with sounds such as throat clearing and sniffing, or or even with multiple tics of movements and sounds.
Even within the same person, the tics vary in many ways:
•they wax and wane - they get better and worse over time
•they change - one tic stops and another starts
•they may be made worse by stress and anxiety
•they may be alleviated with relaxation or concentration on an absorbing task
These changes are completely unpredictable and the person with TS has no control over them. GO TAKE A LOOK AT THE SITE BELOW AND EDUCATE YOURSELF

The so called 'mentals' are now living in the comunity due to legislation known as the Human Rights Act. Its small minded people like yourself that damages the lives of people living with mental illness/ health problems. Considering approximately 1 in 4 people will have mental health problems at least once in their lifetime, i'm sure you already know a few people with mental health problems and wouldn't deem it appropriate for them to be 'locked up'. Padded cells are not inuse any more. People having treatment in hospitals have bedrooms with proper furniture in it, (fancy that). Pete is getting on with his life. He is not putting anyone or himself in danger, so why should he be locked up for the rest of his life. I suggest you spend time with people with mental health problems before you make a snap judgement of people.

He does not have a psychiatric fault. He has a language difficulty. I think you have aggressive issues not a genuine question.
