Read the Word and pray alot. If you lost a one hundred dollar bill; you would tear the house up looking for it. How much more important is your faith. Tear things up until you find it again. You may be surprised to find that it is right where you left it to begin with.

Go back to God and ask for guidance. If you don't believe in God, you should better believe in Him because He is the Creator, the most Powerful, the Beneficent, the Merciful. The signs of God are all around you. Look at the stars, the galaxies, the sun, the moon, the plants that bear fruits, the clouds that brings rain, the air that you breath, the oceans, the rivers, and most of all the people around you, your friends. They can help you by asking questions about the bounties of God it brings if you believe in Him. God did not create you for nothing. He said, ask and it shall be given. But make sure you follow what He has told you. Because God is like a father. A father will give his son the pocket money that he ask for, only if the son is obedient to the father. On the other hand, God will give you what you ask from Him if you follow His command. So believe in Him, follow His command, and ask Him what you want and you will live in peace. In the hereafter, you are the winner and Paradise is yours.

Nothing.
Well almost nothing.
Its not like losing your wallet. You can't look under the couch for it.
But some of the same things apply.
Where did you loose it, what were you doing when you lost it, who was with you?
Does sound kind a corny but there it is.
Once you can get a handle on those questions then, you can go to someone who has the answers, and talk about it. If that person is deep in the word, then you will find where you left it and if you want can go an get it back.

Rejoice in the fact that you overcame brainwashing, and are well on the road to coherent rational thought.
Be aware that you may experience a feeling of loss, a spiritual void of sorts. This can make you vulnerable to some emotionally compelling, but ultimately false philosophies. If you feel a spiritual void, have a look at Buddhism. They have a sensible rational philosophy, and do not require leaps of faith (believing in the absurd and ridiculous). Avoid cults like Scientology!

Find the good in not believing. Trust me, it's there. Religion, in my opinion, is a kind of security blanket-- people believe in it just because it's comforting to them. Be happy with the fact that you've shed the need for this security blanket, and are ready to see this world for what it really is.
When you don't believe in God or an afterlife or anything, you really do learn to appreciate this life for what it is. It's beautiful. If you live this life constantly looking forward to heaven, you miss out on so much beauty. It may be temporary, but it's so wonderful.
PS-- You ask what you should do. What do you want to accomplish? Do you want your faith back? Or do you want to be content with where you stand?

Good question. I was born and raised Christian my entire youth, but as I get older, I only have more questions, not answers. When you think about all the different religions, and know they all can't be right, it seems like alot of us will be wrong. Christians think they're right, so do the Jews, and Hindu's, and muslims. I still think there is a God, but then I wonder where he came from.

No seriously though, if you have a crisis of faith, it is your minds way of alerting you to unresolved issues. What questions do you have that are unanswered? Talk to a clergy member as their knowledge of scripture will be more extensive than a lay person's. If that still doesn't help, seek out clergy from faiths other than yours, you may just need to see the other side of the coin to know you have a quarter. Whether you keep your original methods, or join a new church isn't really the point. Another's opinion helps you to strengthen your own opinion through education and debate.

"brainwashed" Christians???? What makes you think you're not the brainwashed one, and that maybe Christians, and other believers as well, might not be the ones who have it right?
By the way, in order to lose something, you must first HAVE IT. Go searching ... the answers will find you when you need them.
Blessings!

Your dilemna is common when we try to question and cannot find satisfactory answers. It could be that we tried to do something which we are not capable of and are left confused. If you have lost faith in God, what should you do next?
1) Be clear whether you lost faith in God or in your religion? or in your sense of reasoning and independent thinking? There are many religions and it is believed that the diverse religions lead to the same goal, the ultimate truth, the realisation of God. What makes you think that a novice in computers can figure out all about computers in his own life time without taking help from a text book or knowledge of others?
2) Now that you do not have the help of your religion, you have to depend on your own mind. Is your mind trained to answer questions on various subjects? i would suggest that you read a lot on the subject before you come to a decision. Please be open minded and do not start with a premise that God exists or does not exist. You have to think and eliminate each alternative. It needs hard work. Are you willing to put in such hard work? Please ask yourself "Are you trying to re-invent the wheel?"
3) There should be some axioms to start with. Are you a person that accepts ONLY what you can visualise with your senses and mind or do you accept the experiences of other human beings?
Let me explain, if you had a heavy lunch and visited my home and i offer you a good meal, what would you say? You would say that you are not hungry and decline my offer. If i said, " I don't believe you", then how would you convince me that you are not hungry?
4) You can lead a happy life without the burden of religion or God. What is the main purpose of your religion? What are its essential elements, major doctrines, concept of God, ends of life and the major observations? If you know them and do not want to follow those principles, then can you lay down such principles for your own life which stand intellectual scrutiny? You need those guiding principles as anchors in difficult situations in life. Please develop them for yourself. If you developed such guiding principles in your life, and your children are not willing to accept them, how would you feel? Will you be proud of your children for their independent thinking? or would you feel sorry for their lack of understanding?
4) Did you acquire all your knowledge in life on your own experience or did you accept what is wriiten in a text book without asking for proof? Most intelligent human beings accept other knowledge without asking for proof. They start doubting their knowledge only when something is not working.
5) You don't have to blindly believe nor blindly reject. You must develop a system which will tell when to accept or reject. Please note that our mind is not capable of visualising nor understanding everything that is told to us. Let us say that you did not visit planet Mars but was shown a photograph which said that it is an aerial picture of Mars landscape. Will you acccept or reject that statement? Can you think independently and decide? You have to develop an extraordinary sense of understanding. You may need help from some one who has achieved such a skill.
