I know how you feel. I have a difficult time not eating when I do this too.
I think the best thing to do is try to put off the eating for as long as possible.
The idea here is to get your body to get out of the food-processing mode and into the burning stored calorie mode. This can't happen as effectively if you are intermittently giving it food to process. You can still loose a bit of weight this way but it will not be nearly as much.
If you can just get over the hump so to speak it gets a lot easier at around three days without food. Many people experience a surge of energy when all of the food has been processed and eliminated.
I have a strategy that works for me when I am feeling the urge to break my fast. It may help you too. I make up my lemonade ahead of time in wide mouth pint jars, with 2 TBS lemon juice. 2 tbs maple syrup and 1/8 tsp. hot pepper, with distilled water. I make about 14 of these at a time. This lasts me about 2 days. After 2 days something seems to happen to them and they don't work like fresh squeezed does anymore. I keep these in the fridge till I need them.
Whenever I feel the least bit hungry I drink one of these. If I still feel hungry I drink a second one.
It is somewhat difficult for me to drink 2 of these at one serving, and any idea that I had that I was hungry is gone at this point. I usually don’t go over a week without food because I am uncomfortable depriving my body of all the vitamin and mineral nutrients for any longer than this. Although there seem to be no adverse effects at all.
Google lemon cleanse and you should get lots of info.
Hope this helps
Love and blessings

The fourth pillar of Islam is fasting. Allah prescribes daily fasting for all able, adult Muslims during the whole of the month of Ramadan, the ninth month of the lunar calendar, beginning with the sighting of the new moon. Exempted from the fast are the very old and the insane. On the physical side, fasting is from first light of dawn until sundown, abstaining from food, drink, and sexual relations. On the moral, behavioral side, one must abstain from lying, malicious gossip, quarreling and trivial nonsense.
Those who are sick, elderly, or on a journey, and women who are menstruating, pregnant, or nursing are permitted to break the fast, but must make up an equal number of days later in the year. If physically unable to do so, they must feed a needy person for each day missed. Children begin to fast (and to observe the prayers) from puberty, although many start earlier.
Although fasting is beneficial to the health, it is regarded principally as a method of self-purification. By cutting oneself off from worldly pleasures and comforts, even for a short time, the fasting person gains true sympathy for those who go hungry regularly, and achieves growth in his spiritual life, learning discipline, self-restraint, patience and flexibility.

Drink plenty of water. If you have never fasted before a good way to start is by doing a friut and water fast. Another good tip is when you are tempted to eat, either read your Bible or pray until the urge passes. Your body will start to feel tired so get up and go for a walk. Don't jog or do anything to strenous.

It is important to read up on it, but be sure it is medical advice. Fasting can be safe for 48-72 hours, but it can't also be dangerous where the negative repercussions negate any potential benefit.
Here is a good article written by an Medical Doctor:

For safe fasting, just make sure you drink a lot of water. You can fast and still have water. Pray a lot also all through your fasting.

Make sure someone knows what you're doing and keeps an eye on your health (it works better if someone's doing it with you anyway, accountability). Drink fruit juice. Pray, don't make fasting just about not eating, because that's not supposed to be the point.
