I'm thinking about Mel Gibson, and how his image has been damaged. Does everyone like to see the mighty brought down? Is that a little perverse?

I think that Jesus' fame increased over time. But I wouldn't say Jesus was or is a "celebrity". (Although Andrew Llyod Webber did write that great musical "Jesus Christ Superstar".)

During His life, He only had the attention of a small group of people in a relatively unimportant part of the Roman Empire. It was after His death that He really got noticed. (Tragic deaths at an early age seem to be part of certain celebrities' lives and add to their fame) and his popularity has only increased over time.

So while there may be similiarities, I still wouldn't call Jesus a "celebrity".

And the mighty have always been brought down, sooner or later. The ancient Greeks warned us about hubris (excessive pride). But how many of us listen?

Of course all celebrities get either built up, or when that has got boring, dragged through the mud, because that's what sells newspapers, folks! Mel Gibson knows this and should do something about his anti-semitic attitudes.
Most of his income is from movie Semites!

Celebrities do not get crucified. There is nothing glorious about Mel Gibson, and what happened to him is his own fault. He allowed himself to fall into the hands of the devil and his true thoughts toward Jews was exposed. It really makes you wonder what his true thoughts about Jesus are. The movie "The Passion of Christ" does not vindicate him. God knows what is in his heart. Jesus loves you.

This is evidence of the evil in humans, sometimes they get off on hearing about the bad things that happen to other people, especially a person who is trying to be a good person and be an example, people love to say "I told you so." There is no one good, no not one but God only. We can only hope that Jesus will help overcome our evil.

If he wasn't who he is then things like this wouldn't be happening!!!! He should have caught a cab instead of driving that night and none of this would be happening.
