And why is it those who make these kinds of statements never ask "why"?

Skypilot: "He can't have any imperfection in His presence at all" Why? Jesus did.

Before I pick a best answer, I wanted to comment on the blood-thirstiness of a god that demands an -innocent- be blood-sacrificed in His honour to assuage His taste for vengeance.

Says a lot about the god whose rules some of you follow.

The reason why is because God is holy. I mean Holy. I mean HOLY. He can't have any imperfection in His presence at all.

He did not decide to torture Jesus or anyone else for that matter. Jesus knew what was necessary; a sacrifice had to be made by Him who had lived a clean life, free of any sin at all. He could relate to God because He is 100% divine (God) AND He could relate to us because He was 100% man AT THE SAME TIME.

He is our bridge to God.

It wasn't us or Jesus.

Only Jesus was without sin, so only Jesus could become the sacrifice that would destroy Satan, sin, and death.

Jesus, the totally innocent son of God, allowed himself to be unjustly put to death by the forces of evil, because that is the only way Satan's legitimate authority over mankind could be destroyed.

Christ's sacrifice also made him the new and sinless leader of all mankind.

Once man was free of Satan's domination, they would also be free to swear faithful allegiance to the one, true God, receive forgiveness for their sins, and become adopted into God's family.

In that way, and only in that way, could salvation be made available to all.

But the choice is still ours.

We are born dedicated to Satan, by default. We must reject Satan and choose God, typically through faith and baptism, if we expect to be saved.

God intended for us to live a certain way: in harmony, loving and supporting one another - AND loving and supporting Him. God is like your father. He wants what's best for us and that isn't always what we've decided we want. Just like your dad, God has to give us rules or tell us when we're doing wrong. When we're acting contrary to following God or against harmony and love, we're sinning. That's what sin is. This is God's way of maintaining some order and identifying who has turned to Him.

God gave us these laws in the Old Testament to give us the opportunity to live up to them. He knew we couldn't, but He had to be fair and give us the opportunity. He then sent Jesus to pay for the laws, so we could be free to live closer to harmony without worrying about sin. You can only do that after believing and accepting Christ. When you start walking with or living like Christ, you start bringing that harmony and love for us and God to the world. You start bringing heaven here. Jesus had to die to pay that debt and to show us the miracle of resurrection.

What kind of God would we have if we were allowed or encouraged to do anything we want? Do you think we'd even all still be alive today? Our world would be such chaos that we'd have gone extinct thousands of years ago.

You should try to not stereotype people. Racists, bigots, and chauvenists do that unfairly to groups of people. It's not loving or good.

He loved you enough to absorb your sins before his death. There are two things that get you to hell 1. sin, 2 death. He did both and while in hell, Christ defeated Satan, left the sin there and rose again to ascend into heaven. That way, if you follow Christ, your sins are already cleansed and when you die you go to heaven.
(there's more to it, but this is real brief)

At the time, God was around 4000 years old, i.e. senile and demented.

When it is boiled down, it's Satan that started this mess.

But soon, Christ will end it, and his loving Father will reward all those that suffered for truth.
