No you are not self obsessed and shallow for wanting to feel better and to be in a better mood. Misery loves company and that person was way off based. If you don't have anyone to talk or cry to about your hardships, then I think it is OK that you ask for some ones help to make you feel better. I am so sorry that you it made you cry. Forget what that other person said and please continue to seek help from yahoo answerers like myself who never want to see another person in pain. Take care of yourself and always know that God, myself and many Yahoo answerers are here for you regardless of the insensitive ones.

Well, it is not u that's just alone in this world suffering! There are a lot of people who are probably a lot worse than u r. So what ever it is, I suggest that u don't let it get it to ur heart. All day long and the whole life long some one or the other is going to keep saying something unpleasant. Just brush them aside!
Just take a deep breath and exhale! and forget it. If ur interested, I suggest u read books by Dale Carnegie and Napoleon Hill. U would find them very useful
All the best...

Try not to contentrate on feeling down, that is a form of self-obsession anyway. Do something where there are other people, as hard as that be right now, listen to what they say about their lives, have a laugh with them, if you can. doing something different could distract you from the down feelings and enable you to think more rationally later. I hate to hear of someone feeling so upset. Like everyone else answering you here, I feel like I want to give you a hug! Have a great day.

You're young, and in a period of your life where everyone is self-absorbed. The world kind of revolves around you. It should. You're just beginning to acknowledge there is life after high school and wonder how to fit yourself into that world. For someone to say your self-obsessed is just mean. Don't worry about that, though. Be true to yourself. Find our who you really are and what you really want out of this world. Take the time to explore all of these things, and yes, be absorbed in yourself. That's not the same as being obsessed. It's a smart use of your youth, and will keep you from making mistakes you'll regret! Don't cry. It was wrong to say that.

Sorry about that, but people suck.
To make you smile when we don't know you is kind of tough though. This is what usually works for me, first go to someone that you love and hug the crap out of them.
Then, go outside, walk around until you find something beautiful to look at, and sit down and look at it as long as you like.
Then go get something nice for yourself, it doesn't have to be expensive, some pretty costume jewelry, new perfume, a manicure, fresh flowers (my personal favorite) then go home and have a nap.
Here's a joke, maybe that will help.
A mushroom walks into a bar, takes a seat, and the bartender says"HEY we don't serve mushrooms in here!!!!!" The mushroom replies " You should, I'm a fun guy:" See if I knew more about you my joke wouldn't have been so lame.

Try this, young miss - I hope it makes you at least giggle.
A Polish man moved to the USA and married an American girl. Although his
English was far from perfect, they got along very well. One day he
rushed
into a
lawyer's office and asked him if he could arrange a divorce for him.
The lawyer said that getting a divorce would depend on the
circumstances,
and asked him the following questions:
Have you any grounds?
Yes, an acre and half and nice little home.
No, I mean what is the foundation of this case?
It made of concrete.
I don't think you understand. Does either of you have a real grudge?
No, we have carport, and not need one.
I mean what are your relations like?
All my relations still in Poland.
Is there any infidelity in your marriage?
We have hi-fidelity stereo and good DVD player.
Does your wife beat you up?
No, I always up before her.
Is your wife a nagger?
No, she white.
Why do you want this divorce?
She going to kill me.
What makes you think that?
I got proof.
What kind of proof?
She going to poison me. She buy a bottle at drugstore and put on shelf
in
bathroom. I can read, and it say: "Polish Remover".

I am so sorry.
Everyone should be nice to each other.
I am glad that you are sensitive.
You sound very sweet!!
Here are a few jokes to make you feel better:
A man walked into a bar and sat next to a beautiful woman.
He ordered two of his "usuals" an downed the first one really fast.
The woman was intrigued and asked what it was.
He ordered her two and told her that it was so good that after the second one he could fly!
He then downed the second, walked to the window and flew around the building twice, landing back on the bar stool next to her!
She was excited and quickly drank her drinks.
She then jumped out of the window and fell 52 stories to her death.
The bartender just shook his head and said,
"You sure are a mean drunk, Superman!"
Have a great day today and enjoy the weekend!!

The fact that you put it as a command rather than a request might have implied that you were ordering us to do you bidding. Perhaps a little more politeness on your end might have more pleasing results. I'm sorry you are feeling down, my dear. But this is a place were angry, mean, hateful people come to play their angry, mean, hateful small-minded games. You are simply setting yourself up for hurt. I hope your day gets better from this moment on. Think of all the good things in your life. Surely there is a memory that will bring a smile to your lips.

no you are not self obsessed.....its ok to want the best for yourself and want to feel happy. people can be such poo-heads! dont let them worry you, they are obviously just insecure about themselves and are taking it out on you!
whenever i feel sad i put on a good action movie (usually the fifth element) and forget about my troubles, if only for a few hours. pair that with a big par of chocolate and some fizzy juice (pop, soda...watever u wana call it) and ull b ok in no time! some billy connely wont hurt either...that man could make a rock laugh!
