Watching some dvd's of fights last night , and both these guys gave Ali some trouble. I don't know if they actually fought each other. Well anyway pick a winner folks.

Neither one of these fighters ever held the title.

Lyle - W 43 (KO's 31) TF 51 - W pct 84% - KO pct 61% - wins over J. Bugner, Shavers and Mathis - KO'ed by Cooney, Ali and Foreman
Never held title

Bonavena - W 58 (KO's 44) TF 68 - W pct 85% - KO pct 68% - wins over Chuvalo, Folley and K. Mildenburger - KO'ed by Ali
Never held title

Lyle previously decisioned Bonavena on 3-19-74. In this fight, I see the same outcome - Lyle by a decision.

One of the most amazing fights I ever saw was Lyle vs Foreman in which Lyle almost knocked out big George. Bonavena was very tough and rugged and gave Ali a lot of trouble before being Tkoed in the 15th round. He also gave Joe Frazier two very tough battles with many people believing he should have won the first fight as he knocked Joe down twice. I believe that Bonavena had a sturdier chin than Lyle and in a very exciting contest would wear Ron Lyle down and knock him out in 13 rounds.

Ron Lyle, massive puncher would win a split decison over Oscar over 10 rounds. Oscar had a great chin as Ali found out.
