Saying Chinese food is like saying the food of the world....Each province of China has different special dishes. I was raised in Hong Kong and the foods there are Cantonese and it is a joke that people from that area eat anything with its back to the sky...but each ethnic group has special foods. I like dumplings from GuangXi province, and Beijing duck is terrific. I am an American and I live in China, I have eaten sea worms, snakes, rats, dogs, jellyfish, and many other animals. I tell my friends to simply try the foods when they visit China...but never ask what the foods are. Chinese are great people but like to play jokes on visitors and give them food to purposely upset them...it doesn't happen to me but I am waiting for my brother to arrive and see his reactions to my rascal colleagues' jokes....maybe I will be a little cruel too. But for American Restaurants, the food is wholesome and nothing strange...if you prefer sweeter and less spicy food, then Cantonese food is what you want....Swechuan (spelled various) is spicy, Shanghainese food is often served cold, and the most popular items are fried rice, sweet and sour pork, hot and sour soup (spicy) and Chicken and mushrooms.

Crab Rangoon, Empress Chcken, Chinese Style Shrimp and almond cookies. Is this for lunch or dinner? Who's ordering? Where are we getting this from? Cause I like Yee's best.

My favorite is dimsum (heart's delight). You can get premade dimsum wraps (or egg roll wraps and cut them) at the supermarket now. I fill ours with finely ground, pre-cooked pork, green onion, garlic, a hint of ginger, a little rice vinegar, shreded carrot or cabbage, and soy sauce (not too much, the filling can't be wet). Dampen the edges of the wrap to close it, fry the bottom gently till browned then steam to finish it off. Use your favorite soy sauce for dipping (we like Yoshidas)
