It's an excellent question. I think someone should right a book on respect. Short or long, one that all can understand. It is sadly missing, especially by those who keep calling others dumb, stupid,retards and other such names. It is alright not to know the right answer. It is alright to make mistakes. It is not alright to be disrespectful.

It is little things that make up the whole. Small things carefully thought of and built upon will establish strong relationships with people.

When you give respect you get respect.
Respect a person for his age, knowledge and the chair (position) that he sits on.

Let love be genuine;
hate what is evil,
hold fast to what is good;
love one another
with mutual affection;
outdo one another
in showing honour."

You will know if you respect them if you respect your God, because if you love and respect God, you are also respecting His creations...
