If you mean the church where old whatsername the warrant dodger is holing up saying "I stopped the deportation and the people are with me and I know I can come to no harm because I am in a house of God' It means someone who is trying to put European ideas of sanctuary on an American situation. It doesn't exist here. What does exist are politicians who aren't sure they want to drag someone out of a church in an election year, and the President, who is ICE's boss, wanting to let all of them stay, anyhow.
However, she was already deported once and convicted of social security fraud after she came back. As far as I am concerned she shouldn't be elgible for any amnesty in any event, and even the Chicago Tribune, which wants amnesty, thinks she should be deported.

It's church vs. state. This is a very ballsy move by the church! This is just like the old Tex Mex Westerns, were they always say"you can't come in here, this is a house of God!" Crap! leave the woman and deport 1000 for every church hider. Also, If the church wants to give here refuge they can place her in one of their Mexican branch's for refuge correct? This is nothing but a power play by the catholic church to show it's view on the illegal invaion!
