I hold a birth certificate of Cyprus so would that help me to apply for Cypriot Citizenship and get the nationality?

No. In Cyprus there is no right to citizenship due to jus solis. A person acquires citizenship of Cyprus by birth IF either of his or her parents was a citizen at the time of the birth; by registration - if he or she is married to a citizen of the Republic and the two have lived together for at least two years; or by naturalization - if certain qualifications are satisfied including continuous residence for seven years. There is no provision to acquire Cypriot citizenship simply by being born in Cyprus.

You should have dual citizenship. You were born in Cyprus and your birth certificate. If you have lived in the another country since after your birth you should have dual citizenship.

Where are you at now? You should have dual citizenship. Or at least be able to get it. Good luck.
