The one that springs to mind for me is when someone said that humanism is 'Satanic', or words to that effect - After all, humanism is basically just saying "Let's be decent to each other", so it's hard to see how anyone could be upset or offended by that.

You have to understand where christians are coming from. Christians practice self hatred as they view themselves as vile beings and their vileness comes from their own humanity. So if you consider the religion of humanism you can see how any half brained christian can clearly see the contridiction of humanism and christianity and why a christian would label it satanic.
I get suprised by the muslims with all their anti western culture bashing the most. At least I understand where the christians are coming from when they say wild stuff but the muslims just seem to be downright hateful.

I am not surprised by what I read on this forum.....when I first joined a few weeks ago. I was very taken back, and then I said to myself, "oh, now I remember why we left the church 14 years ago."
I can still remember all the preachers teaching against the evil of humanism. Of course, I believed it at the time.....that is were these people are getting this information, their church leaders......But today, I believe it would be nice if we all really had humanist beliefs.

When I asked about whether Toby Keith's "we'll put a boot up your ***" is really the American way - and if so, is America really as Christian as it claims - I was given my comeuppance and told that God loves Toby Keith more than me, so that's why Toby Keith is so much more rich and talented than I am.

I also liked the response to another's question where someone said that "We should be tolerant, but we should NOT let Atheists have a say in our government." Great illustration of that recent study that suggests that atheists are the most distrusted minority in the U.S.

I've been surpised a few times, it seems religions should lead people to get out of a "Us and Them" mentality, but here I see the opposite alot.
Only the ones who don't claim a faith had the best responses.

Not really. I know I can expect all kinds of weird and stupid comments and questions in a section about religion. This is one subject that people will never agree about and they will never fully understand those who have different beliefs than themselves.

I have not been offended by anyone(Internet has desensitized me greatly). I am decent to other people because they are decent to me. I just think people need to drive better.
