in every race, there are people who can't eat what they are not accustomed to. I know a lot of filipinos who don't feel satisfied if they haven't taken rice in their meals. Some even are accustomed to eat rice and some viands at breakfast and are more satisfied as they don't get hungry till noon.
I know also a lot of british who can't eat rice, take note, some have even served in their military service so they should well get adapted to any situation. They can only eat potatoes.
Now, I am filipino, and like the rest of my relatives, can eat anything even without rice as long as the carbohydrates and proteins and minerals are in it.
If you're really that great, have you tried eating raw eggs, raw fish, monkeys, alligators, turtles, sharks, poisonous blow fish, snakes, horse meat, wild pig. deers, cats, dogs, field rats, ostrich, beetles, locust, termites, ants, wild vegetations and mushrooms, wild berries, brains and sex organs of animals, balut or egg emryo,1 day old chick, etc.aside from those lamb's chops, beef, turkeys, pork, bison, lettuce, spinach, carrots, turnips, etc.
Do you still think filipinos are brain washed?

Contrary to your comment regarding the nutritional value of rice - consider the following:

Rice is one of the basic foods for half the world’s population. Few other cultivated plants have such a high nutritional value as rice. Carbohydrates in the form of rice starch form the largest nutrient group. Minerals are also present in a particularly effective combination, as well as vital vitamins and amino acids. On their site at www.riso.ch there is a table of comparisons between rice and some other basic foodstuffs such as bread products, potatoes and corn.

I'm married to a Filipina and really like rice, but have to admit that I do not eat as much rice as she does. That's because I was brought up on bread and potatoes as my main starches whilst rice was her staple. Old habits and preferences die hard.

you have the option not to eat rice if you don't want to.

eating rice is a custom, a way of life. it's not a "brainwash" thing. you can also relate that to the culture of the people. in the past, rice was meant to make filipinos feel full for longer hours due to heavy farm work.

filipinos and other asians can live without rice, given no option. but why question a large part of the custom if it isn't being forced on you?

properly, they might in the event that they tried. yet attempting isn't possibly a Filipino custom And it relatively is a countrywide dependancy - and unquestionably an area of being Filipino. in the 1970's we had a rice scarcity and the government (inspite of martial regulation) became into relatively no longer common pressed to maintain issues so as jointly as they have been given some emergency rice shipments from in a foreign country.

Hamburgers make you fat (for what I can see in your pic you have eaten quite a few) but you don't stop eating them right?
People from different countries have different food customs and rice is eaten in about 60 to 70% of the world. Asia, South America, Central America, Africa, The pacific Island and the arab states all eat rice so is not only the Filipinos.

that's a food culture in the Philippines... What can we do with rice that we plant here? What can we eat while many of us starve to death??? It may not have any nutritional value but how come we live long lives and in fact all of these people have been eating rice?...

I believe you eat some food that has no nutritional values too..

Imagine a half population of the world start looking for replacement for rice. Everything else's prices will triple! Scary to even think about, no? Let them eat whatever they like

If rice is so bad, why are most Filipinos, Chinese, Japanese, and other asians generally thinner then their Western counter parts?

Rice is a staple food throughout the entire Asian world.

Also, how is it any worse than bread, potatos, and processed cereals that are all so popular in Western Society.

Rice can be a healthy part of a great diet.
