What about the love?
My people, where is the love?
Matthew 22:34 - 40 says:
'Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadduccees, the Pharisees got together.
One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: "Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?"
Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart an with all your soul and with all your mind.
This is the first and greatest commandment.
And the second is like it: "Love your neighbor as yourself.'
All the Law and Prophets hang on these two commandments.
Why are Christians not showing the love? Christians are righteous people only when they love God, and obedient because of loving God, loves all others.
So come on, instead of telling someone they'll be going to hell, tell them that you love them. And do love them, because it is by loving your neighbor that you really show that you are loving your God. And maybe God can use this Yahoo Answers to help some people get to know Him.
Live in Love for God and one another.

I agree with you, but the problem is when you start going to church....you are relying on a man to lead your thoughts and it is definitely brainwashing.....You sit and listen to him 3 times a week. I was raised in the charismatic church; my grandparents were deacons/missionaries....my husband and I came out of the church 14 years ago, and it was then that the Holy Spirit really began to teach us and it has taken years to shed some of the biases/prejudices, etc. from our thinking to make us more like Christ.
By the way, the Church puts WAY too much emphasis on Satan.....Christ said that God will not give you a serpent when you ask for bread. It is a trust issue.

Brainwashing is not necessarily bad. We have all been brainwashed one way or the other by our parents when we were young. Do this, do that, don't do this, don't do that. Wipe your mouth, wash your hands, clean you own mess.
One of the great gift of God to man is the freedom to choose, to choose what is right for you, what is comfortable, what works for you. I choose Jesus. and He can brainwash me anytime.
I know it is the truth. He is the truth.
Can you fault me for choosing him.
Some people confuse religion with spirituality. They are not one and the same. Religion is a structured dogma which teaches you to do good. Spirituality is your relationship with God. One is your vehicle the other is your destination.
A religious person is not necessarily spiritual, and a spiritual person may not be religious at all.
I do not place my allegiance to my pastor, priest, or imam Although I can certainly use some of their wisdom. I place my trust in that spirit that whispers to me that what I'm doing is right. I place my faith in Christ. I believe in him. I believe him.
Christ said: True religion is this, to feed the hungry, to cloth the naked, to visit the sick and in prison, and to care for the widows and the orphans. If that's brainwashing, let me have it.

I disagree. If the holy spirit provide you with wisdom, why are the faithful still acting so stupid and without wisdom. For that matter, where is god' wisdom to allow the millions of human to flood during Naol's time and the killings in the Middle End. Where is the wisdom that say that others who loves their childrens and help in the sarvation of childrens in third world countries but have no religions are hell goers?
So, unless you can answer with wisdom, I totally disagree.

I find the whole good vs evil, jesus vs satan plight to be a bit juvenile and the product of too many superman comics and war glorification stories, which have created an over-developed sense of right and wrong. In reality, god (assuming there is) is benevolent and omnipresent and not up on some imaginary playing field battling "evil doers". Leave that crap to batman, would ya?

I agree.
A proper exposure to God and religion can help to counteract the real brainwashing that popular culture is constantly throwing at all of us in books, movies, TV, songs, advertisements, and even video games.
Popular culture is constantly bombarding us with intensive, indoctrination, aimed at setting up worldly convictions and attitudes.
Popular culture comes at us from all directions including books, movies, TV, songs, advertisements, video games and even the Internet.
A few of the these immoral values include:
- Lust and Sex (outside of marriage)
- A disrespect for God and religion
- A disrespect for lawful authority
- A disrespect for our human dignity
- Envy, greed and consumerism
- Anger and Violence
- Drugs including smoking and alcohol
- Vanity, outside is more important than inside
- Prejudice and hate
I think that if we expose our children to all this immorality without the moral anchor of God and religion "until they can come to a conclusion of their own" then we would be unwise irresponsible, and frequently too late.
With love in Christ.

There are many forms of "brainwashing" while I agree with you on the satan bit you should also take into consideration the brainwashing of indoctrination that people go through beginning in childhood during a time in which they make decisions based off of their faith in the parents not their faith in God.

The only thing killing this world is not the Devil or Satan but all religion and the fanatics that follow it. You and all your kind no matter what your religion, wake up and notice that this world will only have peace and happiness when all religions are abolished.
