It is already assumed that you don't have enough food to save yourself. You can only save ONE person.

That means you can't say that you're going to let both of them live and just starve yourself. (well you can, but you won't get a Best Answer for that, guaranteed)

Wow, that's a terrible situation for me to consider. In all my life (since I had my first child at 15) it has never occured to me that I might ever have to pick one child over the others. Since I know this is likely never going to happen and I know I will soon overcome the sheer disgust I have at this moment for ever having to consider it, I will answer to the best of my emotional ability.
Right now my oldest isn't with me (he's 9) and the other two are 5 years and 9 months. If this were to occur (theoretically) today or the near future then I would have to assume that the 5 year old had a better chance of survival when I was dead. The baby would live only for a few days after my death so it would be a waste to keep him alive as he would die shortly anyway. I would hope to teach my 5 year old what sorts of plants could be eaten, perhaps we could use the baby as a test subject. I would also hope to have enough time to teach him how to fish or trap if that were an option. I'm a pretty big girl so I know that I would likely have a few weeks before my demise.
As I said to start, this is a horrifying idea to me. I am a big horror fan, but it's the real emotional things that horrify me the most. And even though it's a terrible thought I would also say that in theory cannabalism wouldn't be against my better judgement in this case.
I hate it when you force these sort thoughts into my head. Best wishes

That is a tough one to figure out... my assumption is this, I can't for the life of me try to play God with my kids. I would only be able to ration between the two of them. In the mean time I would have to find a way of survival for them. The truth is I would be shipwrecked, is there any possibility of eating anything from the ocean? I think that at that point anything to keep my family alive I would try.... I think after that it would be survival of the fittest, not by choice but this just what would happen...

i believe toddlers could be saved first if there replaced right into a shipwreck, yet adult males and females are equivalent. for my section, it may be whoever gets to the spare boat or life vest first, gets it. Too many everybody remains caught on the stupid concept that adult males and females could be dealt with in any different case.

I would explain the facts to the kids that one of us had to perish so the others would live. I would then take my own life and tell them that although it may sound sick that they could eat me once they ran out of supplies. Never, would I select one of their lives over my own as I have lived a good live and they are but young and have lots left to experience.

I would rather starve myself and give my portion to the other child and hope to be rescued before I die. I would never be able to choose between children. I would give my life for my children in heart beat.

well i would obviously be shipwrecked with them..
So i would let them have my food and water so both of them could live, i have two beautiful twin nieces, and i would give my life for them, i couldn't possibly even contemplate letting one die
