Star with a small enexpensive one, if you find that you like caring for them and spending time on them then get into the larger more expensive varites. Parakeets are easy to tame and can have a vocabulary of up to 500 words. Finches can't really be tamed. Cockateils are sweet affectionate and easy to care for. The birgger the bird the bigger cage you need. Don't forget some toys to play with and stuff to chew on.

It really depends on what you mean by "hard work" and "easy work". All birds are work because they are messy. They get feathers, and food everywhere and need to have their cage cleaned daily. Don't forget the big and little poop splats that occur when you have the bird out of the cage.
All hook bills need human companionship. They need to be taken out of the cage daily, they need affection and attention. If you want a low maintenance bird that doesn't need cage time out.....try a small finch. Just give it nutritious food and clean water, clean the cage daily and vacuum.

Big birds need bigger cages....my cockatoo is in a huge macaw sized cage and its a pain to clean...Any bird needs fresh food, water and its cage cleaned and newpaper changed daily. Bigger cages are harder to clean. Don't try to keep a big bird in a little cage. Smaller birds like parakeets and cockateils and lovebirds are easier to care for. Conures are small but are very loud ( you can't train them not to be loud by the way...it is their nature) So in general, the bigger the bird, the more work.

a parrot that u take out of it's cage is very hard work because they eat everthing and wnts alot of attention.
any small cage bird is easy because all u need 2 do is 2 give it water and food and put a blanky over at night.

Here are some very domesticated birds which are less work than those that are more demanding of time and type of feed.

Diamond doves
Ringneck Doves
Parakeet (Budgerigar)
Society Finch (Bengalese)
Zebra Finch

Birds are free.

Don't try to make them your personal slaves.
