Some marriages are ended before their time, and some marriages continue long, long after they should be over.
Commitment is hard, no matter where you get married. It really helps if both parties respect and love each other equally, and are willing to compromise to make the marriage work.
This is why in every country, it is customary to wish the bride and groom some form of "Good Luck!" :)

I think it's because even when people are completely serious when they get married, their commitment level falls as the years go by. You have to be committed to the marriage, no matter what your partner does, no matter how bored you get. If something else becomes more important than this commitment to either person, the marriage will fall apart. Both people must be committed or it won't work, and it helps if the commitment levels are close.

A lot of different reasons.
People are stupid and get married for the wrong reasons, or it's too easy to get a divorce, etc.
BTW, the "divorce rate" is about 50%, but that takes into account ALL marriages.
If you look at the divorce rate between first-time married couples, it's only about 30%.
So, it's the people that are getting married and divorced multiple times that are making the population look bad.

i also would like to know. It's not only in US or UK. It's happening everywhere even here in Asia. There are no more gurantee in true love and it;'s really sad. From what I have seen, I have no more faith in marriage anymore, and that's pathetic coz I'm getting married soon and i'm wondering whether it will last forever.

Because people don't want to be governed. people these days want to do what ever they feel like without guide lines or standards. Who has integrity anymore? And to answer your question, marriage is a three person triangle. Husband, Wife, and God. When you eliminate one you have nothing.
Which one do you think America and U.K eliminated?

The basic values like understanding , adjustment, faithful are lacking in western culture . Everyone is overtly ambitious & to pursue them they seek individuality . People in eastern countries r willing to adjust for each other .

cuz to them marriage means keeping a girl at home to have sex with at free of cost. so when the glamour of girl or the drive of a man fade away, the marriage fades away as well.
