The real question to ask is who put it in? Did you know that that line of the pledge, and even the "in god we trust" slogan on money wasn't added until 1957. It hasn't always been there. It was placed there as a form of nationalism in the midst of the cold war.

There is an establishment clause in the constitution that is being violated by these 2 examples. The U.S. government may not be endorsing one particular religion with these actions they are neglecting a right for those who don't follow any religion. Freedom OF religion includes freedom FROM religion.

Fred wants God taken out of the pledge of allegiance. Fred believes that God is in heaven and that heaven is everywhere, therefor assuming that the nation is UNDER god or under heaven is probably wrong since some of heaven and therefor some of God is below, and to the right and left of us.

Putting God into the pledge sure limits where God can be.

Learn your history, it wasnt there originally. It was added in during the McCarthy Communism scare (1950s), as a way to "trap" communists. As to who wants it taken out, I just fall silent during that line, it does not bug me nor make the pledge any less valid.

Leave it in but add one nation under God and under the Invisible Pink Unicorn and under the Flying Spaghetti monster and so on and so on..why not include everybody's God and God's if the supernatural is going to be officially pushed.

And it IS a form of pushing..just like drugs pushers...why not add one nation under cocaine & heroin and crack while pushing Theist propaganda...religion the opium of the masses, do you begin to see?

It should be taken out. I find even when people have to raise their hands and swear on the bible not to lie in court its a load of rubbish, especially for those people who believe in god in which case they are just lying on a book.

Newdow was the guys name. Actually he had a valid point, but I still think GOD should be in the pledge, and "In GOD we trust" on the money.

Hard call, but really, this nation was founded under God. Newdow is going to have to live with that.

due to the many religions, the government and board of education decided a long time ago that churches and schools dont mix therefore, the term "god" or any religious inuendo will be censored from schools.

The Government! They want no higher power than Themselves! To admit that there is a "GOD" is to admit inferiority to a supreme power. The ONLY reason that they leave "In God We Trust" on our money is because it would do them more harm than good to remove it! The U.S. Government has declared itself the supreme ruler of the Galaxy! On one hand, they lay claim to "Gods Favor" YET The U.S. is the most devistated country via "natural disasters" in the world!
