"Fasting" means not eating for some period of time. You can drink water and take vitamins and still have it considered a "fast."
If you fasted for a week, you might lose 50 pounds. You might also die. See a doctor and get on a medically approved diet so you don't create health problems by losing too much too fast (no pun intended).

Muslims take fasts during the holy Month of Ramadhan. It is "neither to eat, nor to drink, nor to smoke, nor to make love ... from dawn to sunset" during whole of the month. Yet the normal working remains there. It does not mean in any sense that: if you are with fast, you have to spend your day without physical fatigue. In Muslim families, fasting is binding for all men and women (as well as kids of 12 and above), provided that they have no such disease that might increase due to fasting. The people during journey are relaxed from fasting provided that they would complete the counting (i.e. take as many fasts, as they did not keep during the holy Month) after the expiry of the holy Month of Ramadhan.
Besides being a great worship, it has a lot of positive effects health. As for losing weight, I dont have any example.
The cause of over-weight is not in fact over-eating or fats or other types of food. Its major cause is non-consumption of what you eat! Just try to digest and consume all of what you eat. Eat only when you feel apitite and dont eat to the fullest. Keep some part of your stomach empty.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace and Blessing of ALLAH be upon him) advised: "Fill one third of your stomach with food, one third with water, and keep one third empty". He, further advised: "Let your apitite be sharp before you eat".
Take these advices, buddy!

fasting is nothing by mouth no food water gum candy etc and that is not how to lose 50 lbs you need something that will burn fast without doing a lot of excersise but eating a sensible diet medicine like trim spa,zantrax, or letropril you can buy in walmart will help just follow directions exctally and with patience your weight will come off in no time

the malay community fast for a month, thats all i know, sorry i can't help much. but fasting is not the best way to lose weight. exercise and eat healthily would be a better method !

Fasting is not eating any solids, but you drink lots of water.
It is dangerous to fast without a doctor, nutritionist, and/or a dietitian. Talk to them first before you attempt to fast on your own.

Fasting is not eating.
It will also cause your metabolism to slow which will cause you to gain weight if you fast often. Your body will store the food you do eat as fat.

it usually last a couple of days it's not a long term thing. if your looking for a quick diet fix do what i did i did if you want
†For breakfast i ate 1 bag of instant oatmeal, a go gurt, and a piece of fruit
†For lunch and dinner i ate a piece of chicken and salad
†Also allow yourself two snack of fruit daily, no bread,pasta's or rice is allowed.
i did this for and lost around fifty pounds in two and a half months. my starting weight was around two hundred and fifty pounds and my ending weight was about 159 of course it took me more than than two and a half months though lol.
