Why is this information in an ini file?
Surely the registry would have been more secure?

The boot.ini tells the boot loader which operating system(s) are installed. If you have more than one Windows version for example it then lets you choose which one to boot. It's only after this that the Windows system you chose to boot reads the registry during the boot process.

The boot.ini file simply tells your system how you have it set up to boot. Has nothing to do with the registry!

registry is more secure but boot.ini is providing so many options to users which could not be possible by the registry.
As u know windows is welknown for its user friendliness so its better boot.ini in comparison with registry thing.
