Think - ok they don't know my speech so if I mess up they won't know.
Believe - you can do it and do it well.
Practice with others present. Even if it is just the housekeeper/maintaince cleaning. It will get you used to having people in front of you and for distractions that may occur during a speach.
Never think of the audience nude - you might laugh or be embarrased depending on who is in audience.
Hope this helps. I hated public speaking until I had speach class freshman yr of HS. I hated the class but after a while a had the guts to try out of the speech team. I won at districts and went to state in 2 different areas.
PS Try reading to kids first - you have a pre written script, you can use voices and everybody wants to hear you.
GOOD LUCK!

The public are not there to humble you but to listen to you realise this first.Talk and speak out your mind as if you are talking to yourself in a room b all alone and looking above the public head.3.talk and orate as if you are dictating something to the public that only you are expert at and the public knows nothing about the subject you are talking about as it turns out yhe public is usually preoccupied with family and work problems and has come to yje gathering rather on pressure from somebody rather than voluntarilly. Finally there is not a single person in public who wants to be in your place on the stage 5.To be even more confident and to overcome fear you can give a open invitation to anyone in public to come on stage before begginning your speech and you will find 90% of public quiverring in their seat to hide from your invitation and that will give you what you want that is the confidence of being on stage without fear. is this enough? or you want more?

Remember that people are not there to throw rotten tomatoes at you. Instead of being stiff when you speak in public, treat it as if you're telling a story to a small group of friends. Focus on the first 5 rows of the audience and just let your eyes glide over the rest. When you see the larger group, you might go blank. Also, remember to master the topic you'll be discussing with people and relax when you talk. Smile and listen to the reactions. Let the discussion be inter-active to keep people from getting bored.

Practice your speech, make little notes with key words, don't look to the people, look to the wall behind your public, speak calmly and slowly, don't rush, if you make a mistake it is ok to say sorry and go back just don't stop speaking for a long time, when speaking you are the boss, you are the expert, the public want to learn from you, you have power over them.

a lot of people try to come up with things like "imagine everyone in underwear." that's really not something that works. the best thing to do is to simply start in front of small groups and begin gradually working on to bigger and bigger groups. the only way to get better is to actually do it. eventually, you can get so comfortable, it doesnt even phase you.
