Interesting. Marriages fail everywhere, arranged or not. It seems a pity though to promise to spend your life with someone who you do not know, that is real faith. And to live the promise? That is real faith in action. I think it is also playing with Lady Luck, like playing poker. If you are dealt a good hand, you win and if not, Shucks! In this case the families arranging the marriage are relied upon to have the common sense to produce the best results for their offspring bearing in mind that marriage is a lot more than just lust. There is something positive to be said about this way of marrying. For sometimes we confuse lust for someone's body as love and give ourselves up in marriage for this. And the end story, heartache and divorce. But which of the two is worse?
I like the old african way: girl sees boy,boy sees girl, they like each other, boy goes and chats with aunt of the girl for aunt of the girl knows girl well, aunt visits boy's home gets to know boy, if boy is not good or boy's home is not good (not good people in the society) aunt discourages boy and girl, if all is good, aunt encourages girl to see boy and acts as chaperone, aunt then arranges for boy to meet mother of the girl and the last one to know is father of the girl, girl is never entirely alone with boy but has privacy from aunt.
But then again this has faded out.

I hate that style! There's nothing worst in life than an arranged marriage. You only get to live one life and you're stuck with the person you don't love. How bad is that? I'm sure glad I'm in the USA!
