I believe the devil exists, of course. To deny the devil exists is to deny God exists. There always has to be a dark side and a light side, a Good side and an evil side, a white side and a black side. etc...it's going to be a mystery in life why God allowed the devil to exist. He was Lucifer, the angel of light, and a cherub. One of God's best!! He was given the power to design the universe, and that's what he did. But somehow, someway, he abused the power he had. Then he wanted to be just like God, and he wanted to be God. He lead A LOT of angels astray, and they all became fallen. He and those angels were booted from Heaven. They reside in the Heavenlies, which is a realm outside of Heaven. One day, the devil will get his just punishment, and God's wrath will be unleashed on the devil, and all those bad angels! The devil knows this. The devil has no way of fighting against God. The devil knows his time is short, so he tries to influence humans to sin and fall from God's grace, so when they die they will go to Hell, where the devil will go someday. Jesus holds the keys to hell, and when the battle of Armageddon is won by Jesus, He will lock the devil down there for like a thousand years, so he can't corrupt the minds of anymore humans. Then after that thousand year span is up, Jesus will let the devil loose, but i don't know why. Maybe to test humans again for God's own purposes, to see if they are faithful servants or if they are very weak in spirit. One day the devil will be destroyed! who knows when that time will come, but God's had enough of that guy!! AMEN! It may not make us feel better that the devil will be let loose again after 1000 years, but it would be only a temporary thing! Just accept God, and be obedient, accept Jesus as your savior, and you will never have to worry about being sent to burn forever with the devil.

Nope. Satan first appears in Jewish literature at pretty much exactly the same time that the Jews were exposed to dualism (your basic good god/evil good worldview) in Babylon...it really looks like the Jews stole the Devil from Zoroastrianism. If the Jews stole the Devil from Zoroastrianism, and the Christians stole the Devil from the Jews, and everybody else stole the Devil from the Christians, then what it all comes down to is whether you believe in Zoroastrianism or not. I don't.
I also don't think that the Devil is a useful metaphor to keep around. I like many of his literary incarnations, especially in Milton and Goerte, but I'd prefer that humans take responsibility for the bad **** that happens on earth rather than foisting it off (even metaphorically) onto the Devil.

If you mean do you worship the Devil, the answer is no. I am a Christian and I believe in God and Jesus. I believe that Lucifer/Satan is both a physical being and a spirit. It is said that Michael the Archangel has Satan bound and is holding him in his place, so Satan sends out his spirit to do his evil work for him. But I do believe in the Devil in the sense that I know he does actually exist. I'm sure you already know this, but before Satan became the Devil, he once dwelled in Heaven with God, Jesus, and the other angels. He was known as Lucifer, God's most beautiful angel. He is said to have been the best looking angel with the best voice. But Lucifer also had a jealous side to him as well. He was jealous of Jesus because God included Jesus when creating the world and Lucifer wanted to be a part of this. Lucifer got all the angels together in a secret meeting and started saying bad things about Jesus and all but 1/3 of the angels didn't agree with him. Lucifer got the 1/3 of those angels to side with him and then God cast them out of Heaven into Hell where they still dwell to this day. That is how I know the devil exists.

Since there is a God, it would be logical to assume that there is a devil. Especially since everything has an opposite.
Since God is a spirit, the devil would be too.
You can't have one without the other.
Things just don't work that way.

God created angels before He created Earth. Lucifer (the devil) was the most beautiful angel creation, but Lucifer (the devil) wanted to be better than God and began to have other angel followers on his side. So, God casted Lucifer (the devil) and the angels who followed him (now called demons) out of Heaven.
YES...he is very real and his demons are, too.
BUT...do not be fearful of him or his demons, especially if you live your life for God. If you know scripture, you know that even the demons themselves were afraid of Jesus Christ.

I don't believe IN him, but I know he exists. He's my neighbor. I see him on his way to work every day.
Yes, he does in fact wear a red leotard with horns. I've seen him even dancing around his backyard with his pitchfork.
He takes an express elevator straight down to Hell. Oddly, almost every single client of his is a lawyer...

Several different forms, actually. My preferred form is the Miltonic Satan, with Lucifer the Morningstar close after--though they're very close, in that both are symbols of freedom, rebellion against imposed structure, and the power of knowledge.
And all of the above--physical, spirit, and state of mind, at diffeent times.

the Devil that is Satan was created to test the souls of man against the word of GOD. In the book of Job, Satan said that virtue untested is innocence, and that faith that does not withstand temptation to disbelieve is meaningless. Satan's purpose is to put the souls of men on trial to see which are worthy of salvation or desolation.

From what I've heard the Hebrew word for "enemy" is "saatan". Do the math and figure it out. The devil is evil people, nothing more.
