You may have seen the Tesla electric sportscar http://www.teslamotors.com
*
You may have even seen the T-Zero electric sports car

http://www.acpropulsion.com/ACP_FAQs/FAQ_cars.htm
*
These two cars show that it is now possible to build electric cars that can out-accelerate a

Ferrari, and go 250 - 350 miles on a single charge. But both these cars are very expensive.
*
So who else is working on electric cars?
*
Would you believe China? They have to work on EVs. There won't be enough oil to support

China's future economic growth.
*
I drive an old electric vehicle. I also have friends with electric vehicles. Some of them

have recently been able to buy some amazing, cutting-edge EV batteries from China - example:
*
http://www.everspring.net/product-battery.htm
*
These batteries are better, and cheaper than the ones in those $100,000+ sportscars above.

If you look at the chart, you'll see they are as cheap as lead-acid batteries, and they hold

up for 1100 charges, twice as many charges as the other LI-Ion batteries on the chart.
*
Now, look at this car:
*
http://www.milesautomotive.com/products_xs200.html
*
It's a Chinese electric car, which will be imported into the USA next year. The driving

range is almost as good as those sports cars above. But it only costs $28500. And that price

could get a lot cheaper.

yes but car companies like GM do 2 things...They buy long term gas and oil future contracts too, which they are currently profiting from, they bought 5 to 10 year oil contracts back in the mid 90's when oil was less than $25 a barrel. Second GM keeps about +$30B in cash knowing business cycles in the auto industry face these downturns which they pump into the business in the form of discounts, they want the revenue more than the little prizes they give away even a years worth is not that much on a $30K car.

No! There are thousands of profit in a new automobile. The Dealer sells cars to Rental Companies at a bit below cost and still makes money. The factory gives the dealer various amounts at the year end for every car delivered to the dealer. It used to be an extra 5%. They make lots of profit on what they call the, "back end" at what is called "F & I" finance and insurance. They may have as little as 14A% on thje basic vehicle but up to 80% on "extras" such as appearance groups and other accessories. The fatory probably has a deal on the actual price per gallon they pay; they won't pay the retail price. If you are in the market just now...they will meet your demands before they allow you to...walk! So, hit em and hit em good! Good luck. Oh! Call your bank and find out what the..."loan amount" is from the bank and offer just a little above that amount. Remember when you drive out the vehicle loses a lot of value, it is now a used car.

Personally I wouldn't buy any Chinese made car. The quality control is terrible. Esperanza means "hope". Not a good choice of a name for a car.
