First, get offline.
Lie down and just try to relax. Take it from someone who knows, the more you try to force your self to sleep, the harder it is.
Try soft music, or concentrating on something specific really hard. Count backwards from 100.
There are tons of ways to try to fall asleep. Mainly, just relax.
Also, do you have nyquil in the house? If you do, take just a little. Not too much. I've done this before and it works and you wake up not feeling that drowsey.
For future refrence, if you have serious problems sleeping just in general. I recommend Melatonin. It's safe, natural, and you can get it at your local health food store.

You could always try having a glass of milk. I have heard it is supposed to make you fall asleep rather quickly. However, I am not sure if it is meant to be cold or warm. Good luck!
