Sounds like an incompatability issue

I also run Tomtom on a T5, but never had that message, the usual one is the there is not enough memory, and I have to do a reset.

However I did have some trouble when i first set it up, but I got the software update, which seemed to fix it.

Check both the T5 and the Tomtom have all the updates installed from the relavent webpages.
