Are you looking for long term residency or short term residency? For a "taste," you might want to look into a Student Visa. They take a very short time to get and one of the main requirements is being accepted to a program. Sounds like you can do that pretty easily.

Check with the Canadian consulate. There are a couple of avenues, depending on your age. You might be able to get a student visa, if you were looking at taking a course in anything, anywhere, but for other status, you have to follow a different route. The consulate will give you the best advice. (And it's free.....)

Contact the Consulate of Canada. There is a "missiion" (the consulates office in other countries are called "missions"} on Hope Street in Los Angeles.
