The biggest advantage is to be able to develop your own path in a manner best suited to you without having to compromise for the sake of a group. The other big advantage is not having to be in a group when someone's ego gets too big and suddenly they think they should be the grand high mukti-muk and the rest of you should kiss their foot. Of course, the big disadvantages of the solitary path are not gaining knowledge and wisdom from others who may authentically be further down the road than you are, and then there's lonliness. Even a rather disorganized, somewhat inept group may be preferrable to solitary work simply because the fellowship can be so life-supporting when things are going hard in the rest of your life.

Seek to know thyself. The solitary path is a hard way, but if it's the road for you...then you will avoid it to no avail. Blessed Be.

What I have enjoyed most about being solitary, as opposed to practicing with a coven (which I have done), is that you get a chance to really partake in your own religion and life. It's the best way to get to know what works best for yourself. Also, you are not bound by the rules of a tradition when you are solitary.

I also found that I began to take my own beliefs much more seriously and I continue to seek more knowledge on my own.

The biggest con, however, is that it's hard to find good sources of information, sometimes. Be careful of what you read... some of the authors out there *cough*Silver Ravenwolf*cough* are full of crap.

In the end, just do what feels best for you :)

The primary advantages are being able to experiment a lot more and develop your own individual spirituality and such tailored to your needs. It's a great way to start out but I feel that after awhile even the most rabid individualists start craving the support and social contact with a group. I know I did.

nicely, i'm a solitary eclectic Pagan. it relatively works greater effectual for me by way of fact of my busy existence type. I meet with different Pagans on line yet there are quite a few Pagan gala's and meetups in different great cities right here that if i for my section go with to talk with a team or get new information or maybe sense like celebrating with a team there is often an "all community" adventure happening someplace. For me, being solitary works. i will do ritual and spell artwork as i ought to. no longer whilst it relatively is remitted via the team or how I ought to honor my gods or the spirits of the earth. it relatively is easier for me and much less drama. i do no longer think in a "chief" of my theory i've got self assurance that each and one and all are equivalent and all upload some thing. i do no longer go with to be a pacesetter nor a follower so i think that the solitary existence is greater effectual ideal for me. it relatively is as much as you no remember in case you think of it relatively is sweet for you. like each others mentioned, you will discover covens and communities that the chief is on a capability holiday or only is lazy approximately maximum suitable the team. some communities are very laid lower back the place others are "complete out" and circulate away many of their fellow worshipers interior the history. only interview them as much as they are interviewing you. circulate to with their team as a shadower and notice no remember if it relatively is sweet for you. Blessed be

It's actually a nice way to start out, I think--gives you time to work out your beliefs and preferred practices without being told what to believe. After that, it makes it easier to find a group that works for you.
