This is what I have heard. In fact, I have heard that they can have a ban for from 10 years to forever, once they are deported! In that case, if I was an illegal immigrant in the USA right now, and have never been deported, but I have worked perhaps a year or more, wouldn't it make sense, with what is going on regarding illegal immigration in the USA today, to haul myself on back over the border (without INS help) and (now that I have money from working in the US), go apply for legal immigration and pay my fees, etc.?

Cowboy - I agree with you. They should NEVER be allowed back under any circumstances if they have been deported. Further, if they are EVER found again, they should serve 10 years in prison and then deported again.

DAR, I am appalled by that woman in the church, too. Today I read on the news that authorities say they won't go into the Church to arrest her. I think they are very wrong - go in there and get her OUT and either jail her for a long, long time and then deport her, or at least deport her NOW. A message has to be sent or there will now be a mass of illegal immigrants running for cover into the churches whenever they are on the verge of deportation!

Legally If they do not choose voluntary deportation (depending on the situation) and are given letter of deportation or ordered in court then if they attempt to come back and are caught for 10 years they get put in jail and can never come back or seek amnesty. This is what I saw in several peoples cases it mat not apply to all.

I went through the naturalisation in 2004, so may be able to help, some.

There is a whole slew of questions about arrests, convictions, moral character, etc - they even ask things like "Are you a terrorist".

The critical issue - if someone LIES on this application, their subsequent naturalisation can be nullified - even 50 years after they become citizens. So the unspoken rule is - tell the truth on the application.

I had a little teenage stupidity, in England. In 1982 I stole $5 of gas (along with 3 other guys), when our car ran out & we were stranded & unable to get home. I admitted this on the application & during my interview I had to disucss the matter briefly with the supervisor. Ultimately, it did not stop me becoming a US citizen.

SO - when an illegal alien is deported - are they actually arrested ? Perhaps anyone that really cares should go to the INS's website & download an application & see if there are also questions about deportation, because I can't remember.

It would, unless you are like the warrant dodger who is holed up in a church in Chicago - since she was already deported once, returned illegally and was thereafter convicted of social security fraud. She can't legally come back, and should just stay out.

Ok some people on here have no idea what they're talking about....

Yes you are right, but that doesn't mean they'll be barred from entering the country illegally...

My father taught me that there are consequences for making bad decisions. I make bad decisions in life, but I do not break any laws. I am a law abiding citizen.

It should. It isn't fair to those who came the right way. Or to those waiting to come the right way.
