I'm not sure if he landed upright. He is not limping and does not appear to be in pain, but should I be worried about internal bleeding or other injuries that might show up later?

There are a few basics to watch for:
Does the cat eat and drink? (Indicates a bowel obstruction or injury)
You’ve already covered the limp area. (Broken pelvis, spine or legs)
Feel the cat over, press in the abdominal area as well as up and down each leg and the neck, you are looking for tenderness or blood.
Look for wetness or blood around the ears and nose. (Indicates a possible head injury see a vet ASAP)

If you find tenderness it could be a bruise or other injury, hence watch him it might jut go away, by Monday if not see a vet.
If you find blood it indicates a break in the skin. Even an area of wetness might indicate a possible break in the skin. See a vet today!

I forgot to mention, watch his stool and urine for signs of blood, under the trams situations it might be there for a day or so but it shouldn't continue or get worse.

A thing to keep in mind is that cats can endure an enormous amount of pain walking with a broken leg, internal bleeding without complaining

I would suggest that you have him checked out by a vet just in case. He is probably ok if he is up and moving around, but there could be internal damage that does not become evident right away.

Most cats can handle a fall from a second story better than a fall of 5 feet or less, because they can turn in mid-air and land mostly on their feet if they have the time.
He is probably ok. But get him checked just to be safe.

Mine did the same thing recently, but maybe about 20 feet. My apartment is on the second floor and I usually never took him on the balcony but let him out one day.

He walked to edge, looked at me and JUMPED OFF!!!!!

I'm unsure if he landed on his feet either, but when I ran downstairs to get him on the lawn he was just terrified!! When I brought him in, he did not show any signs of injury, just quite upset for a few minutes.

I've heard that cats can fall from much higher distances and be okay, how that happens I have no clue. My cat is fine, but I don't let him on the balcony anymore!!!!

Keep an eye on him. But don't worry, i know a cat that fell from 3th to 1st floor when he was 3 weeks old and he's 5 years old now.

The only way that you'll know that he is OK is to get him checked by a vet-since you sound like you love your cat I'm sure you'll do the responsible hing-get him checked and also make sure this can't happen again-get a child-guard fence or something so he can';t fall off the ledge-how did this happen ? Do whatever to make sure can't happen again for next time can be seriously hurt.

do no longer enable all and sundry decide you. you're in all danger to get a lot of rather inflammed retarded solutions for this submit. practically each and every toddler takes a tiny tumble like this. It does not make you a undesirable determine! as long as he's no longer appearing unusual (which incorporate being overly drained without warning or vomiting) he could be high quality. If he landed on carpet the worst he would bump into is a few carpet burn if he skidded a sprint on the landing. If he hit a complicated floor you may desire to wanna examine for any bruising. in case you're nevertheless very in contact interior the morning it rather is beneficial to place a call to his pediatrician. **edit** wow after interpreting each and all of the posts of the ladies earlier me i'm so chuffed none of meanies got here out for this one. Kudos to each and all of the ladies for being so supportive :)

I would just keep an eye on him, make sure that when you feed him he eats and drinks. Look for any unusual signs that there might be something wrong, other than that if you are real worried take him to a vets to get checked. He might have a bit of shock from the actual fall itself too. Poor kitty I hope he is ok for you.

More than likely , he DID land upright. Cats (almost) always land on their feet. If there isn't any signs of injury now (or any that show up later) I wouldn't worry. I've seen cats jump 50 feet or more...
