I have chosen to wear long skirts because I've noticed a difference in the way guys look at me and interact w/ me. They seem to know I'm a girl to be respected and not something to play with. And the guys that are interested in me are ones that really respect my values. My church doesn't require me to dress modestly, its totally my decision.
Your thoughts, experiences?

And I'm an 18-year-old girl, if that changes anything. : )

people view u differently when u dress skimpily as compared to when u dress modestly. it is called stereotyping. girls that dress skimpily are treated as play toys and hardly gain much respect while girls who dress modestly are treated as mature ladies and gain considerably more respect. as for church, it doesnt matter if u go to church or not, the same will happen if u go out to town

Defintely! If a lady clothing immodestly some men will see her as an merchandise or recognize her for a fashion she looks. And if she clothing modestly- human beings will understand her and recognize her for her personality/ personality more effective. those days, it form of feels ladies and ladies human beings are competing with eachother to seem good. it is no longer a lot about intelligence, smartness, kindness and so on anymore proper? human beings do not realize that the chaacter is our actual self and our outward visual charm is only a shell human beings. Our looks fade away and at each and every time, something can happen like getting great cuts, bruises- it really remains there for existence. only a reminder, personality doesn't fade away.

Yay for you.
I do the same and my boyfriend loves me because of the fact that I don't bare all. I'm 22 and have had experiences with guys that wanted me to wear short skirts so that they can "show me off", obviously so that other guys would take interest and make the bf insanely jealous...nope, I don't see the sense in that either! My bf's religion requires modesty as well as refraining from sex until marriage so when I see girls walking round dressed in barely anything it does make me wonder what is going on in their head because they look like a piece of meat waiting to be used. My legs are seen by me and me only! And if I go out in a strappy top, I normally have a jacket on too except when its really hot!

Whatever works for you. Clothes make the person. If you dress like a bum, people will treat you like a bum. If you dress like you are successful, you will be treated accordingly as well. If you dress like a $2 hooker, you will be treated like one as well. Of course you do want to dress the occasion. You also don't want to dress like you are Amish or a throwback to Edwardian times.

At least when you do dress modestly, you know the men who are are interested in you are more genuine than if you were wearing really short skirts.

I totally agree with you. I don't like showing my skin, and I love wearing long skirts! It makes a difference of how people interact with you when you are dressed a certain way.

If it works for you. I myself like knee length or calf length I think calf length is classy. Long long may make you look older than you are that's my experience. If you are very traditional and perfer a certain kind of guy and you attract them by dressing modestly then I guess that works for you. I attract the kind of guys I want by being me not by what I wear if someone I don't like approaches me because he thinks I have sent certain signals by what I am wearing I can usually tell by talking to them.

I dressed like that for a while.
Nothing wrong with it but not necessarily anything that makes it great either. Just clothes.
Wear what you like, if you like long skirts then keep wearing them :)

I wear lots of different kinds of clothes now and I usually get respectful guys

Personally, I like long skirts on girls rather than short skirts. It seems sophisticated and as if the girl is not out for sex alone. I respect a woman who doesn't try to show off her goods to get attention.

I like that people dress modestly. My husband actually prefers it. I don't wear long skirts, but I do wear a lot of vintage dresses from the 1920's, I love to wear dresses and my husband loves them too.

yay for you! in the society we are in covering up isnt the "cool" thing. but you are right men do respect women more when they dont show everything they've got. i commend you for making such a great choice, and even though your church doesn't require it by dressing modestly you are setting an example for everyone around you and that is great in its self! yay!
