how is it that heterosexual couples that are atheists or satanists (though that could be considered a religion too) can still get married? why is homosexual marriage such a big threat to the sanctity of marriage and these aren't?

even if these people get married by the justice of the peace, it is still called marriage and they recieve all the benefits as anyone married under god would.

...by the way, i support freedom and rights for all and separation of church and state.

if they are so different, why all the fuss about homosexuals getting married in the same way? civil but not recognized by god (for some)?

Getting married in a church is a different marriage than by the state. The marriage licence is not a marriage at all. The government just uses that term generically. It's actually a union. People are very confused by the difference between the social marriage and the religious one.

I agree and I think we should change all the laws.

Only officially sanctioned CHURCHES should perform Marriages AND you must me the qulifications which are set by each church, including age, sex, etc., AND only THAT Church can break that marriage and that church sets the laws. If that Church delcares NO divorce, then there is no divorce allowed.

Non-religious people sanctioned by Government can perform Civil Unions, but only to people who are not already in a union or married. Again, criteria and dissolution are set by the state or country.

Civil Unions and marriage hold the same weight of inheritance, taxation, credit, etc.

Government can't divorce or annual marraiges.

Churchs can't divorce or annual Civil Unions.

All states and countries must recoginize both institutions, however you can't cross country or state lines to gain Most Favored NAtions status. A residency riequirement would be manditory. Each state or country can set that, so long as it is not over 1 year.

They can maybe require a post Union residence as well. Say up to a maximum of another year, othrewise the Union is not transferable to another country.

No state or Country can charge or require a fee be paid for Marriages by a Church, but a Church can set a fee or dontatin requirment.

It must be the same Church group that dissolves any marriage, no state or union or other Church can do that.

Boy, this would show how Religious people really are!

These are two different "marriages" using the same term to describe them. God created marriage as an institution b/w man and woman. That said, two guys can go to a courthouse and get married in some states, but that is not a marriage in the eyes of God.

Actually two non-Christians getting married is not a marriage in the eyes of God either even if it is a man and woman. Feel free to contact me to discuss that one further.

Why bother with marriage if you can go to a Notaries or whatever? Read 1 Corinthians chapters 5 and 6 and maybe 7, just read it all.

Good points. I also hate the argument that marriage is solely for raising babies. Due to no fault of our own, my husband and I can't have kids, and I resent anyone insinuating that our marriage is is less legitimate because we don't. We have stayed together for twelve years because we love each other, which is the REAL foundation of a marriage.

the word institution bothers me. the idea behind marriage is two souls become one. look up the definition. i dont see where it logically applies. your right, no one should get any benifit from marriage because of that separation, but no one defends the contitution anyway. the government thru the years has bent it far enough that it now means nothing

Religion became corrupt when they allowed divorce to take effect. Now they cannot deny homosexual marriage, for marriage is no longer sacred.
