Because God doesn't exist. I don’t think there is much doubt today that all religions are just mystical cults with their clever magic tricks conjured up to awe inspire their believers and followers. Take the Christian mythological cult for example. God is supposed to have created the universe, incarnated (magic trick) himself as Jesus and written the Bible.
But today God is totally silent. The only thing we hear about God comes from people speaking on his behalf, namely cult leaders and followers, most of whom are lunatics and war mongers. If God genuinely existed, he would silence these people because they are an absolute embarrassment. Just check out some religious idiots who post on YA.
When you listen to these idiots trying to justify God’s love and existence, it takes very little commonsense to realise how imaginary God is. If God were real, he would speak for himself. The fact that God does not speak, and that he allows any lunatic who comes along to speak in his name, proves that God is imaginary.
If all you religious people who try to mentally saturation bomb gullible minds could see how stupid and embarrassing you are to the intellectual mind, perhaps you’d stop making fools of yourselves.

Maybe that's because God speaks to those who need his words. There aren't any more prophets because essentially every person is a prophet if they want to be. God isn't limited to christians only. God is in most religions. If you claimed to be a prophet of God everyone would think you're insane. Most people think God talks to them but he's not. Usually God speaks, in a way you don't understand. You can see it in the people you know, the nature, the world. We don't need a prophet, we need people seeking knowledge. To understand the real hidden truth. The reason most people don't know the true meaning to life is because they spend too much time waiting for someone to tell them, instead of just living it.

The pope claims to be a prophet and speak for God; Mormons have a prophet who speaks for God; most Kings & Queens claimed to be prophets of God; Mohammed claimed to be a prophet of God; and there have been tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of people throughout history that claimed to be prophets of God.
Where have you been? Prophets are all over the place and have been for thousands of years.

Actually, if you have the power to scan the world ine very country, there are several who posts them selves as prophets of the God. These modern people have string of believers, especially in third world countries, which I came from too. In the Philippines for example, there are many known as "faith healers" who go deep into healing through spiritual powers given to them by what they saw or the vision they experienced. In some cases, they even claim healing powers against alternative western methods.

Amos 3:7 says "Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets". From ancient times God has called prophets to guide His people. Their job is not to foretell, but to forth-tell.
God still calls prophets today. The current prophet is Gordon B. Hinckley.

God has not spoken but the Holy Spirit has for he answers our prayers. Maybe God has not given any commandments like he had with Abraham but that does not mean he hasn't spoken through prayers.

It doesn't get added to the bible anymore. God speaks to people all the time. He left me a bluebird feather last week and it carried a message for me. I was spoken to by a freind who knows me well, and he gave me a message that is exactly what God would have said if he were here.
You don't get enough messages? Go sit in the woods away from people, maybe on a high hill, and holler to God about your problems and what you want. You will get a reply.
Maybe in a dream
Or from a friend
Or in a feather
Or in a memory that occurs to you while you quietly watch the sunset.

God speaks to true Christians all the time through the Holy Spirit. It is written in the Bible time and time again about this. And it also states that in the Latter Days there will be people who see visions

In India, this is supposed to be the Kali Yuga. A yuga is a period . One yuga is said to last for many many years. In the Kali yuga, people cannot see god. There are three other yugas in which people have seen God. But they say one can still see God through supreme medtation and all. This was possible earlier when there was less corruption. Now its not possible.
Now for the last part- IM ATHEIST

The Christian God has historically raised up prophets during periods of major change in the history of his people.
E.g., ~1500 BC, with Moses and the Exodus; then again with Elijah and Elisha; and then again with Jesus.
--
Please be aware that there is scientific and intellectual evidence for the existence of God (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/godsci/evidence.htm)
I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
Cordially,
John
