If you have been dating then just talk "about" marriage first. See how she feels about it. You will know if she would be ready to say yes by the way she talks. If she avoids the subject she is not ready. If she encourages you when you talk about it just bring it up every now and then but don't be too fast. If you think she is ready then plan something different than usual to ask her...that is more romantic. You do not have to spend a lot of money. Plan what you will do if she says "no". It would not be the end of the world so don't let her think it is. There are WAY more fish out there and maybe she would say yes later....be cool!

Don't be scared - scared of what? Rejection? Rejection is temporary - losing your true love could last a lifetime. There are ways to go around actually asking her that are diplomatic and can lessen the blow if she's not interested. Have you hinted around about a ring? Have you asked her if she wants to marry someday and what that person would be like? Answers to these questions could help you guage what her response will likely be and avoid rejection - rejection is hard on a man's ego - so I can understand why you would think like this.

Dear bro , this is the most common problem . But to solve it you have to propose her. Else the time will keep passing and one day you may loss her as a friend also.
Or you can try to know her feeling through any common friend, but the best way is to be friendly with her try to know her feeling towards you and then analyse her attitude towards you and then proceed yourself .......

There is nothing to hesitate.
Unless you propose how do you know that she say YES or NO.
Do it immediately and be ready for the consequences.
Instead of waiting without result, do it immediately and get the response.

she's your girlfriend,what would you be scared of..why cant you just tell her,what if she's been waiting for that proposal of yours..and if ever she'll turn you down..just understand her,maybe she's not yet ready for it.. and how to propose to her..? well you know her..bring her to a place where you two love most and then its your turn to say those..

I have the same problem.....i'm too shy or i think of whst she may say....or whatever the reason maybe.
But trust me on this one... never be late in saying "I love you" at the right time.....or you'll face the consequences that i'm facing... it terribly miss her now and i'm helpless ...i'm too late...
If you have a problem saying "I Love You" directly... then you can show her your love rather than saying it... but doing different things like giving her gifts(gifts that a lover gives... which have special love messages for her....) etc. Be creative

Why would you be scared...you should know if she would say yes or not. You are just a little nervous about having your feelings not returned.

make her feel ur the best of all. dont say directly that u love her. Make her feel that u like her and want to marry.
