Nice lads who dont sponge of the system, thats the feedback I get from managers who employ them. They work hard and have a laugh, just like the way things used to be!

This is the kind of people we should reach out to, and shut the gates to the free loaders!

If we were all on a level playing field then i would agree with you but we are not. A pole in his native country would expect to earn about a quarter of what our minimum wage is so, to them, even a minimum wage job is good money. Well that must be great for businesses I hear you cry; the problem is that it pushes wages down in semi skilled and non-skilled jobs, the very jobs which the poorest people in society rely on and hence making the rich richer and the poor poorer, as they have more people willing to work for far less, it simply means that the average brit with a family to support and quite likely a high mortgage can not compete and this is pushing up unemployment drastically. As for those of you who claim they are all great workers let me tell you now they are only human, you get good ones and bad ones , our company went through three in a week because they were off for a sly cigarette whenever they could. I actually have experience of this (check out my previous answers for a full run down). The fact is that importing any worker to do a job in favour of an indigenous person is against the national interest and does nothing for anyone, the poles are being exploited, the brits are becoming unemployed and adding a burden to society.
Please don't get me wrong they are nice people but I just think the balance needs to be redressed .

It's having an effect on local unemployment!! I know of a company that employs polish over locals. I am told that the company gets £5 per hour for each of the Poles they employ.(from the government)..thus only having to fork £3 rather than the normal £8 per hour from the company funds!!!

I really don't blame the company...but it means that the locals don't stand a chance of getting a job there...and this comany is the biggest employer in the area!!!

Totally agree. I do care how many immigrants we have, provided they work. It is the "other" type of immigrant like Somalis etc. who just come here to rob and steel never intending to work.

Poles that I know are great. They work hard and integrate. The same can be said for most other Europeans.

They are hard working, skilled and really decent people.
I am English living in Poland and cannot speak highly enough of the Polish people.
Its hard to say welcome in favour of all others, but given the choice they would be first on my list.
I have noticed how very few people on yahoo have a bad word to say about them, nothing but praise

We should allow anyone to come here if they work, but because
of people abusing the system we shouldn't allow any asylum claims which are lodged in this country. ( They came here illegally) Anyone coming in touch with any arm of the government, police, health schools etc without proper documents should be deported straight away.
PS I prefer a working pole to a layabout brit anyday.

If you look at history all immigrants faced many strugles , I think courtiousness and making an effort to be a part and fit into society has overcome ignorance. At least for some.

their here just like any other immigrants to get what they can, many sign on and jump the housing lists, they are keeping the wages low,it doesn't bother them because their wages are so low.this is just another ploy to keep the poor down and give our resources etc away while the 'ruling classes get criminally richer!!' most of the people who answer on yahoo come from sheltered backrounds who have been breast-fed by their mummys for too long!!!!!!

If they are coming here working hard and paying their way , I don't have a problem with them. The people I have a problem with are the ones that come here soley to get everything handed to them on a plate and contribute nothing to our country.
