Yahoo is a great site. It should work positively. I am not in favour of restrictions but in favour of open debate on different religions but with in ambit of morality. Do not insult others and their feelings. Yahoo should screen all those questions and answers who are insulting and vilifying against any Prophet or religion. Virtues of all religions should be propagated. I hope Yahoo is not controlled by the same persons who owned Danish newspaper.

Yahoo shouldn't have to screen things. People should know how to be civilized and decent towards others.

If people raised their children better, this wouldn't be an issue. Not Yahoo's fault people are intolerant jerks

I think that yahoo should delete questions and answers which are intended to inflame others. But, yahoo isn't a babysitter, so the only way to draw their attention to those posts is reporting (which I tend to reserve for obviously insulting posts created by repeat offenders).

Overall, yahoo seems to be doing a decent job keeping up with things (I admin a forum and know it can be difficult to keep up with trollish members)...it would help if they would IP ban those who post outside of the rules but it doesn't appear they are using IP bans.

Unless they want to start charging a membership fee for yahoo answers, screening questions and comments prior to posting is going to be out of the question...that takes a lot of man power. It's better that those who don't like seeing those questions to simply pretend like they aren't there and report them if they deem it appropriate. People who act inappropriately are just doing so for the attention and would soon leave if they received none.

I think it is also good to note that disagreeing with a religious belief is not necessarily an insult as long as that disagreement is stated in a relatively kind manner. Face it, if we all agreed on everything this section of yahoo answers wouldn't exist.

What virtues? The myths, superstitions, fairy tales and fantastical delusions of a tribe of ignorant Bronze Age fishermen and wandering goat herders? Things like a terrarium earth, talking snakes and donkeys, demons, friendly spirits, evil spirits, walking on water, multiplying loaves and fishes, people raising from the dead, stopping the sun in its tracks, parting seas, people being bodily sucked up into heaven (which, by the way, lies on the other side of the sky), world-wide floods, creating people from dust bunnies and ribs, magical trees of knowledge, gods speaking from burning bushes... and ritual cannibalism by eating god in the form of a cracker?

In a sane world, if there was somebody running around spouting ANY of this crap, he would be locked up in the State Farm for the Funny. Apparently, though, mass insanity seems to convey some sort of free pass.

This nonsense MUST be confronted and exposed, if we are ever to have a hope of achieving a rational society.

For the most part, I have seen religious postings answered by people of similar interest. I have seen some honest thoughtful questions. I have seen a few nerdy dumb remarks which are easy to ignore like spam. But so far I have seen nobody show disrespect towards any religion. The education and openess shown on this site contributes to mutual understanding in a good way, and I think it is a place of no significant harm.
May you be blessed by the Creator as you see him or her or them or it...

Who will decide what is insulting? Who will decide what 'feelings' shouldn't be hurt? Who will decide what is appropriate and what is vilifying? In short, who would you have censoring the discourse? Should we be made to submit to your sensibilities or mine?

Instead of whining about views that may upset some, you should be enjoying the spirited (if sometimes tactless) debating. As long as no one is falsely crying fire in a public space, we as Americans have a right to say anything we damn well feel like. Let those who have 'feelings' that can be hurt get off the site and go screw themselves!

Yup, that was the only reason Yahoo!, Inc. was created went into business.....Just to provide an easy way for religous fanatics of ALL types to offend other reilgous fanatics.

Yup, Yahoo!, Inc. is owned by a Danish media conglomerate, their Headquarters in California are just for show. In fact, it might be where they print the propoganda leaflets being dropped all over the middle east (by all sides !!)

u r absolutely right! i stand behind u 100%. yahoo is a good site, but some of the people on here like to argue and others just write stuff to be writing. it would be nice if people could have a good debate w/out arguing especially when some one asks a simple question just to find out how other people feel.

That's a ridiculous proposal.

How can one offer truthful or accurate answers if the only answers allowed are those that promote the virtues of an ideology?

Yahoo has a rating system and a report abuse system.
It does not read every question and answer but leaves it up to the participants.
If you do not like a question or answer, use the tools they have given us to make it better.

In respect to your question; Hatred is uncalled for. A person can worship and believe what they choose to believe and worship, but in the same token, in our public schools, you can mention the name of Allah, Mohammad, and/or Buhda (if that is how you spell it)and nobody gets offended or upset, but mention the name of the true king JESUS CHRIST and the ACLU and non-Christians are having a field day... As a Christian, I am confronted by hatred on a daily level...
